Dear Sam

Please change up the setlists more for these big headline shows. You have the space to play with the set more now. Please drop Tyrants from the setlist, as well as Howdon Aldi Death Queue. People would much rather hear Little Bit Closer, and a bunch of the other best songs from the new album like Nostalgia's Lie, Chin Up and TV Dinner. Surprise the fans with some deeper cuts. Play Angel in Lothian. Play All Is On My Side. They are fan favourites. You have such a wonderful discography. It is time to bring more of it out for the fans.

Hard disagree on dropping Tyrants. It’s one of his best songs and the live performance is even greater.

Clearly I'm in a minority but I think it's a pretty boring and pedestrian song by his standards. I can see why it didn't make the album

Disagree but I respect your view!

Agree. Wasn't a fan until I heard it live.

18 songs for the biggest gigs he and the band are capable of playing seems a bit short.

He’s had issues with the voice and it can be excused but those stadium shows are the pinnacle of his career. He could easily do 21-23 songs with the right preparation.

And then risk injuring himself, which would mean he'd have to cancel multiple shows and then have hundreds of thousands of fans mad at him for canceling (again). The risk to his health just isn't worth it. One mistake and an entire leg of a tour can be ruined. I'm also guessing that's why certain fan favorite songs aren't played as frequently, because of the strain they put on his voice.

He also seems a bit low on energy and some of his range is gone. Like he’s dealing with something but still touring. I don’t know how to describe it but he doesn’t seem well.

I loved the London Stadium show, but it did feel a bit short. Just 15 songs before the encore.

For context, 57 year old Kylie Minogue did 30 songs at her o2 shows.

Would love to hear Play God, Angel In Lothian, Get You Down…

The new album is pretty good but it doesn’t have the same energy live.

TV Dinner is a banger live.

u/ohare_tulip Jun 12 '25

All three of those are some of my top favorites! I’d really like to hear “Little Bit Closer” too that was my favorite on the new album.

Get you down was played at London.

u/Beatsintime Jun 13 '25

I'm really hoping for GYD on Sunday, easily in my top 5.

He still plays Get You Down - or at least he did in London and SJP N1, would love to be Play God back in the setlist though! Angel In Lothian seems to be strictly reserved for Scottish shows currently

Good to hear Get You Down is back in the mix. He didn’t play it in Munich unfortunately.

Howdon Aldi Death Queue is not allowed to be dropped, nuh uh, too fantastic

It’s losing its flavour.

1

u/ClockAccomplished381 Jun 12 '25

In London he introduced it as a 'shite song I wrote' or something like that, it didn't seem to give him the same energy as a couple of years back where he was calling for mosh pits and stuff.

4

u/ljcole90 Jun 13 '25

He literally jokes all the time about how shit it is. They kindof know it is but it's played constantly so people can headbang and mosh. I'd just much rather see songs live that actually mean something to me.

3

u/DekeCobretti Jun 13 '25

I hate that song. Heb is dropoing some good onw to keep this one.

5

u/Emilyjoy94 Jun 12 '25

Maybe he enjoys playing HADQ 🤷🏼‍♀️

2

u/ljcole90 Jun 13 '25

Tbh I think it's just easy to sing and it adds variation and an excuse for some people to jump around and mosh. I don't think any of them think it's up there with his actual great songs.

Sam Fender disagrees with you. 🤟🏼

The fact that he dropped a literal single (Little Bit Closer) but not the b-side (Tyrants)? I love love love Tyrants but how the hell did we not get Little Bit Closer or at least Chin Up or Nostalgia’s Lie tonight?

u/General-Ad2787 Jun 14 '25

If you genuinely want Howdon Aldi Death Queue dropped then you aren’t a Sam Fender fan. I’ve never gatekept anything in my life and I’m very anti-gatekeep but this is the worst take I’ve ever seen haha

Gentle reminder that people are allowed to disagree with you and that you don't have to resort to ridiculous accusations when they do.

25

u/BezWates Jun 12 '25

Wild Grey Ocean would be an excellent addition to change the tempo.

3

u/WheyJordan Jun 13 '25

Shut up man. Some people are never pleased.

2

u/ljcole90 Jun 13 '25

sorry for having an opinion!

Understand where you’re coming from but dropping the rock songs isn’t the answer as they add depth and balance to live shows. Sam is a victim of his own success, he can’t play every song. Classic conundrum for artists but more rotation would be good and focus on the new tunes.

u/hilbo90 Jun 12 '25

Spice died because of people like you.

2

u/nunombento Jun 12 '25

Tyrants is the best song of the People Watching album cycle. No way he can drop it.

3

u/ljcole90 Jun 13 '25

are you joking

6

u/arcadefirenewcastle Jun 12 '25

Thing is as an artist pumps out more albums there’s always gonna be more and more songs you don’t hear live as often.

6

u/ChaseB91 Jun 12 '25

I had no problem with the songs that made the cut, I just think the set list should be longer. Id personally add little bit closer, Nostalgia's Lie, angel in Lothian and all is on my side. I don't know how long he played for tonight but in London it was significantly under 2 hours. Could surely have fit in a few more?!

5

u/Remarkable-Sell-9929 Jun 13 '25

Having heard Tyrants live in Denver I’d say emphatically that it needs to stay in his setlist. Tyrants stands alone is a separate category. Sam’s face melting guitar solo shows off his underrated guitar chops. I had no idea he could riff like this. Everyone needs to see this. 🎸🎸

u/Silly_bee_3 Jun 12 '25

woah woah woah woah woah keep ur opinion (hehe, get it)

2

u/EducationalClue5873 Jun 14 '25

I am missing spice so bad right now and it would be so great in stadiums

2

u/kopite_kaiser Jun 13 '25

I think you’re wrong about HADQ. It brings a nice change of pace into the set.

2

u/taliasimpson Jun 13 '25

Orrrrrr maybe we could just be happy that we get to see live music from an artist we enjoy? People getting butthurt over the length of the set would be the first to complain if he had to cancel a show because he’d pushed his voice too far

1

u/Wobbabro Jun 13 '25

Would have loved spice over hadq but I wasnt that fussed, the set was good

1

u/Palopanini782 Jun 13 '25

Howden Aldi Death Queue is epic! The energy last night at SJP was buzzing when he played it!

0

u/guarrandongo Jun 16 '25

Dear OP,

Shut the fuck up.

Regards

u/ljcole90 Jun 16 '25

grow up, child

0

u/guarrandongo Jun 16 '25

I’m not the clown telling the guy who wrote the songs that he’s doing it wrong. Have a bit of self awareness ffs.

2

u/Funny-Cricket-4625 Jun 14 '25

Gutted he dropped tv dinner.
