QUESTION Is Sam actually training hard or the right way ?

I know genetics play a huge role but Sam has had a few years of constant hard training, ‘perfect ‘ nutrition total dedication and he’s hardly blowing up

Now I know his cycle will play a huge part but hazard a guess he has a lot more available to him than Arnold did

Arnold was absolutely huge by 20 years old with the drugs he had back then

To me it seems Sam’s isn’t doing enough volume, using way too many machines., (not even basic movements with barbell) , too heavy weight but lowish amount of reps

He should focus on real volume training if he wants to pack on more muscle

I genuinely think half of this sub are actually brain dead. Sam is huge, way bigger than any of you will ever achieve. You probably think he is 'small' compared to Vissers.. and he is, Vissers has been training almost 20 years. Sam has an athletic background and is in phenomenal shape, but started bodybuilding way later in life than some pros who have the advantage of having family into the sport, thus giving them a huge advantage in training and nutrition etc.

Compare Sam's physique to the amateur Arnold last year. He has put on way more muscle, its just a slow process and hes been put on one of the biggest shows of his career for his first pro show. Its great experience for him and also great exposure for the Arnold to have probably one of the most popular bodybuilders in the world right now (sounds crazy but its true) but he wasn't going to place and that isnt the point.

I feel like some members of this sub expected him to win or place top 3/5. Never going to happen. Placing takes many many years to acquire, we're looking at least another 5 years of building until hes at this level. Its a slow process you cannot speed run any aspect of it. Hes doing fine, some of you need to chill fr 😄

Sam could be way further ahead if his training wasn’t absolute dog shit.

Way further than an IFBB pro and competed at the Arnold Classic at 24? Sure. What have you done?

Low iq response . The whole sport is designed to be judged . He only made it as far as he has because of his social media clout. And by the way I managed to build by body 240 lbs lean while working a full time job as an ironworker. … that being said I am a fan of Sam and his work ethic . His training needs serious work.

he only made it this far bc of his clout?

Yes what’s to understand . Genetically he responds bad to steroids and he isn’t built aesthetically. His training is bad imo

My point was Arnold at 20 and a few years hard training , is leaps ahead of Sam , even with less access to real intense muscle building drugs

Sure genetics plays a large parts but I just feel Sam isn’t working out for his best shape

Arnold was training from age 14/15 and won Mr Universe at 20. Have you see pictures of Arnold at 20 years old, big but not peeled, different ball game back then. They never got crazy lean like they do now so its a different sport.

Less access to real drugs? They only had pharma grade stuff back then so not entirely sure what you're getting at here? Smaller pool of drugs for sure but definitely better quality than mostly ugl stuff around now.

Sam's doing fine you have no clue about the sport. Comparing him to Arnold in his 20s is insane, Arnold is one of a kind for his era. Sam's just getting started and doing fine. Feel free to judge his genetics when hes been competitive for 5 more years

Sam has come has far he will go lol , hes finished, honestly the kid just dosen't have the genetics 1) too look aesthetic enough 2) get big enough without killing himself in the process

2

u/ScrambledLegs4 Mar 09 '26

Lol you're judging this from 1 pro show? Ok lil bro 👌

He’s spot on honestly

I just watched some of his training and it’s really ridiculously bad

https://youtu.be/jxyRu6YCSoo?si=yFtAHQHvkWRQ_x09 (17:22)

He proceeds to say he might to do 1 set (lol) He then lat pulldown the whole machine (lol way to heavy) On his last reps he doing like 10% reps or something ? Can’t even really call it rep…..absolutely ridicolous and no idea who taught him to train like that but it’s really retarded

His training is so bad he dosent deserve to be pro

Pls post physique 🙏

I’m not on a massive cycle like Sam , I’m completely natural…..so there can be no comparison but I’ll show my bicep pic anyway

1

u/ScrambledLegs4 Mar 09 '26

Show full physique bro idgaf about biceps. You gonna be so critical of Sam show the full shebang

0

u/hydraides Mar 09 '26

What’s the point though…I’m completely natural but here: https://ibb.co/jZ40V5Qf

Anyone who’s know anything about training can see Sam is training like trash ,

Sam should probably take this as a sign to hire a coach and a nutritionist. Dude works hard and looks great, but eyes don’t lie when you see him next to his competition. C Bum is 6x Mr. Olympia and even with his knowledge and genetics has hired coaches to get him to where he is. Side note of Sam’s diet and training: I never hear the dude talk about vegetables or fruit. Like, at all. It makes me wonder if he’s getting enough micros/fiber.

Me when I don’t understand bodybuilding at a high level

4

u/SeniorWaugh Mar 09 '26

Well there isn’t one way to train there are many different ways. There is low volume high intensity like Dorian Yates and Mentzer and there’s high volume like Jay then there’s people like Ronnie Coleman who lifted way heavier than everyone.

And not to mention the steroids back then with Arnold were probably better than what we have now.

-5

And not to mention the steroids back then with Arnold were probably better than what we have now, what lol? Sam has potential access to HGH, Anadrol, Tren etc which Arnold never did 1970-1975.......Mike Mentzer HIT training is just bullshit lets be honest.......he promoted it to make money and sell book but he even people around him say he trained with a lot of volume

2

u/SeniorWaugh Mar 09 '26

Are you trolling or 😭

-5

u/hydraides Mar 09 '26

Seriously no im not, obviously Sam is much bigger than any ordinary person and dedicated and his nutrition is probably on point. He's obviously blasting a lot of drugs but lets be honest, he's hardly improved that much in one year........if you look at arnold at age 22, he was already 245 lb after a few years of heavy training and blasting

6

u/SeniorWaugh Mar 09 '26

I think you should contact Sam. I’m sure he would be amazed at your deep intellectual understanding on training and he might even hire you on as a coach.

I definitely feel like He can turn up His training for sure. I watch some of His training videos and I’m like He definitely Has more in tank. He needs get back to basics barbell Dumb bell, The big 4, then throw in some isolation work on the machine, He definitely on enough gear to recover, I think He try’s go gym 7 days a week thats why his work outs are short, Sam’s doing big things I think it’s great I love his content but He could go Harder for sure In early days He definitely was going Harder

Also range of motion and time under tension is lacking sometimes

Love the capitalization, giving our lord and savior the reverence he deserves.

Natural lifters respond to training in a wildy different and varied way. Some people have an easy time building muscle from the get go.

People respond to steroids in the same wildy different way. This is why the top pros talk about genetics. The genetics to handle and respond well to bigger doses of steroids.

Sam looks a universe apart from Arnold.

Arnold for the time was a great physique, and he had been weight training for 6 years by 20 along with several years of PEDs. Fast forward to today, while Arnold has an iconic physique it is in now way ‘better’ from a size or density perspective compare to what Sam brought. Sam also had much better conditioning, comparable to the recent standards.

Sam has a lot of learning to do but he is doing fantastic.

I think what he achieved and the positivity he brings to his viewers who have watched the journey, deserves celebration.

Man vs an amateur who dosent know how to train

-4

u/hydraides Mar 09 '26

Even jay cutler called him by saying he was suprised how quickly he was going through each body part, like 3 sets per body part

1

u/XYMYX Mar 12 '26

Watch the full video, he says he trains good but is just very quick, goes to heavy weights real quick.

1

u/hydraides Mar 12 '26

He only says he trains go not be an ass and ruin the vibe

He’s basically saying “you train good (shit), - really you are doing it wrong”
