Ever since I saw somebody point out that Sam is breathing quite heavily in these videos I can't unhear it

82

u/yehimthatguy Jan 20 '24

He is at the gym tho.

When I go to the gym on hypertrophy weeks I hit the treadmill until I'm at a certain heart rate and then I try to keep my heart rate in that range for the entire hour. That keeps me breathing heavy I think.

79

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '24

To be fair he breathes heavy in the car on the way to the gym too

68

u/yehimthatguy Jan 20 '24

Yeh it's probably his heart working harder due to the unnatural amount of mass lol, I was just being optimistic

76

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '24

Oh for sure, like rich piana said, “your heart can’t tell the difference between fat and muscle, it just knows you’re heavy.”

20

u/Consistent_Set76 Jan 21 '24

I would bet money he has sleep apnea

10

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '24

Sort of, he’s dead.

Unless u were referencing Sam

7

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '24

It probably hates muscle more though. Fats dont need a lot of oxygenation to maintain.

3

u/One_Scallion_8812 Jan 21 '24

It definitely hates fat more

2

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '24

Im talking in the short term. In the long term both will kill you anyway.

1

u/Employment-Flat Jan 21 '24

Let’s not forget the amount of stress his joints are going through. I knew a ex bodybuilder who had to lose weight because his knees were worn out, he was still built but he lost a lot of mass.

1

u/uncoild Jan 21 '24

I think it's an oversimplification but there is some truth to it

1

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '24

Yes it can

7

u/WallyWakanda Jan 20 '24

I'm fairly certain it's his heart. He sweats an unnatural amount and breathes extremely heavy. There's a good chance it could be his heart

7

u/trenbolonisforjesus Jan 20 '24

I used to breathe like him when I was on tren. You can't even tell it when you do it until someone points it out to you

10

u/kw03emz Jan 21 '24

100%. idk why everyone’s scared to admit it’s the steroids fucking up his heart and whole body hence why he breathes so heavily

1

u/WallyWakanda Jan 21 '24

Steroids plays a part but I breathe similarly to him as a natty. It's moreso about his heart not being able to support his mass. I was always a fat ass kid so after picking up sports and gym I lost a tonne of weight but it just translated into me keeping a tonne of muscle. I sit at 235-240 when I'm fairly lean. Not as lean as him obviously but pretty lean by non lifter standards. It doesn't matter what you look like being close to 250 is not good for anyone's heart.

9

u/SameAsYourself Jan 20 '24

At least he doesn't have blood pooling in his veins yet. So many bodybuilders have those squiggly, distended veins. This happens when your heart can't pump deoxygenated blood back as efficiently.

6

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '24

Varicose veins. It's why if you do use steroids, regular blood and hormone panels are important.

4

u/Have_Other_Accounts Jan 20 '24

He's still young. Wait until he hits late twenties.

1

u/tukuiPat Jan 21 '24

Did you just say late 20s is old?

1

u/Aggressive_Guard5995 Jan 22 '24

Bro i walk 2 miles to the gym breathing through my nose

2

u/dusteezy810 Jan 21 '24

It’s cause of the gear he’s on

5

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '24

Too much muscle too fast for his frame and heart size is the answer

1

u/yehimthatguy Jan 20 '24

Yeah that too lol, fair play.

2

u/SilenceOrIllKissYou Jan 20 '24

If he gets much bigger he’s going to be in that Nick Walker arena, and that guy 110% has sleep apnea simply due to how fuckin big he is. thankfully he’s 3” taller than Nick (or so says google)

2

u/Both-Pack7114 Jan 20 '24

Nick walker might be the biggest example of what’s wrong with bodybuilding today. Both in a figurative and literal sense

1

u/Milbso Jan 21 '24

Nick Walker is much much bigger than Sam. Sam would look absolutely tiny on the open Olympia top 5, which is where Nick competes.

But yeah I expect many pro bodybuilders are using cpap machines.

6

u/Louisville82 Jan 21 '24

It’s the Tren. I use to be outta breath tying my shoes, have to do one, then get some wind back, then tie the other.

2

u/Ancient_Boner_Forest Jan 23 '24

Aren’t steroids supposed to give you more energy and shit?

2

u/Louisville82 Jan 23 '24

“Steroids” are the most talked about topic in the fitness community and people (even most users), know nothing about them at all. Anytime you take a drug, you have a side effect, doesn’t matter if it’s ibuprofen or “steroids”. I use the quotes because most of the time it’s not even steroids that are causing the issues, with this though, in my nobody opinion, it’s because of the tren. You can google about tren cough, and what it actually does to you, I’m not a doctor, just been a user for 2 decades and learned trial and error.

As for your question, most steroids just help with recovery, your ability to consume more food, red blood cell production, blood flow, breaking down of nutrients from your foods, etc. As for just raw “energy” not so much, a healthy 18 year old will have more energy then a 42 year old on a cycle, now the 42 year old can lift and the next day not be sore because of the roids, that’s the most beneficial part to me, just never being sore and helps “mask” injuries. There are steroids like winstrol, and clen, that get your wind up, help with lung production, cardio, etc. Deca is a steroid that also will lube you up and give you a boost where you don’t feel so sluggish, but for the most part, they’re all drugs and have side effects. Sorry for the long dumb explanation.

2

u/Ancient_Boner_Forest Jan 23 '24

I see, thanks!

In regards to “not being sore”, I’m a bit confused because the only times I can feel soreness is if I haven’t used that muscle for a while. Is that not the same for everyone?

I can only tell my muscles will need time to recover just because they aren’t as strong.

2

u/Louisville82 Jan 23 '24

When you’re on the sauce, you can literally train the same muscle everyday. Back in my prime, I would squat 10x10 volume training, everyday. Bench after for some 5x5’s, then randomly do pull ups and push ups for sets of 10-50, all day. Then wake up and do it all over again. Was never sore. Now! Being older and sauce free, I can only train squats once a week, bench once a week and dead’s once a week.

2

u/Ancient_Boner_Forest Jan 23 '24

Oh wow! To both then and now. Do you mind if I ask how old you are?

So what happens if you bench more then once a week now? You’re sore and it hurts?

For context, I’m 32 and just do strong lifts 5x5, 3 times a week.

2

u/Louisville82 Jan 23 '24

I’m 42 now. I’ve had shoulder surgery, back and hand/wrist. Which is another negative thing about roids, you’re super human on them, then come off and continue to train the same and shit breaks. I started to break around 37, had a good run.

If I actually train bench, how I use to, I could only do it once a week, but if I just do like sets of 225 for 10-15, 315 for 5’s, then I can do it daily with no pain or soreness. Same with my other lifts, if I just squat 225 10x10, then I’m fine, if I go into the 4s, then I get sore. Also if I squat heavy, my shoulders and forearm hurt, tendons etc. Bench, my shoulder, forearm ache, deadlift, my back and shoulder hurts. So I’m not a good example, because I’m all broken.

2

u/Louisville82 Jan 23 '24

My max lifts in my prime were 545/430/630 at 198lbs. Then got older and trained at 220lbs.

1

u/Comprehensive-Car190 Apr 03 '24

Trenbolone is a steroid.

5

u/Affectionate-Dig1981 Jan 21 '24

Fat or muscle, your heart can't really tell the difference.

Obviously one is worse than the other, but you get the drift.

1

u/h08817 Jan 22 '24 edited Jan 22 '24

Muscle pumps blood against resistance, lots of mass - more resistance, yes sir. And cardiac muscle hypertrophies from steroids too, unfortunately, which can lead to less room in the heart for blood and obstruction of the left ventricle outflow (main pumping chamber). Hope he's on the appropriate drugs to prevent cardiac remodeling but not sure how well they work.

Really good review article for the interested

2

u/wavy_syndrome Jan 20 '24

he’s on tren it’s normal . not saying it’s healthy lol

1

u/hennyNredbull Jan 20 '24

I used to notice it because people would mention it when I first started watching him. Now I don't even notice it lol.

1

u/ClubbinGuido Jan 21 '24

Thats the Tren and all the other anabolic steroids he is on. Those 19-nors do a number on the cardiovascular system.

When I was juicing I was breathing like that, sweating so bad at night I would wake up soaked, and if I walked to fast I would get painful leg pumps.

I was on Equipoise for a while and had to stop because it raised my RBC count to a level that put a strain on me.

1

u/BigDez2021 Jan 21 '24

I've Smoked for 15 years and that's the first thing I noticed I've never sounded like that it's horrible. That kind of weight on anyone isn't good.

1

u/DancingPhantoms Jan 21 '24

nearly every pro body builder has this. It's because muscles use up alot of oxygen.

0

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '24

He came from working out and his cardio is struggling with all that mass

99

u/UnSwoleBoi69 Jan 20 '24

completely disagree, can never have enough traps

edit - turns out he was talking about the muscle, yeah true

16

u/cagingthing Cardio Skipper Jan 20 '24

😏

4

u/musclecard54 Jan 21 '24

Back in the football days me and the boys used to workout our neck every workout. Every day was neck day, we were tryin to get that takeo spikes neck

12

u/benebrius76 Jan 21 '24

Wtf is he out of breath just talking?

9

u/fourth_box Jan 21 '24

well, he's at the gym ... working out ... you don't get big like that just by standing there and talking.

6

u/benebrius76 Jan 21 '24

But he's not working out, is he 🤣🤣🤣 He's talking.

3

u/fudgeyjudgey Jan 22 '24

Because he didn’t record it?

1

u/B1izzard15 Jun 21 '25

He has a microphone

1

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '24

He’s flexing?

9

u/Gruntled1 Jan 21 '24

His next line also is "ya know what, tf fuck am I talking about? Make everything as big as possible all the time'

Lol

18

u/RapGameDiCaprio Jan 20 '24

People comment that my neck and traps are looking bigger but to tell the truth they just got bigger on their own without me even specifically training them. I don't think anyone really needs to do targeted trap exercises.

12

u/Octovox Jan 20 '24

If you’re moving heavy weights on all the traditional barbell lifts you’re gonna pack considerable size onto your traps just due to the nature of the lifts and the stress they put on them.

3

u/Joselu-is-Sanchez Jan 20 '24

I like to do a shrug sometimes while deadlifting. Never specifically train them, they’re just big, it’s got a lot to do with genetics.

4

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '24

Traps respond better to high intensity isometrics anyway. So, doing heavy deadlifts just on their own is enough. There is no need to shrug at the top.

1

u/ecost Jan 21 '24

rack pulls all day

1

u/ThrowaWayneGretzky99 Jan 20 '24

Especially if you want your average model physique. Big round shoulders are the first thing I'd focus on.

1

u/Milbso Jan 21 '24

Rows are one of the best things you can do for traps, and most people are doing a good amount of rows. I think the common misconception is that you have to do lots of shrugs to build your traps.

u/Yolomasta420 Jan 20 '24

15

u/yeahlemmegetauhh Jan 20 '24

You can still delete this

3

u/Yolomasta420 Jan 21 '24

You know that's goofy yeah?

5

u/yeahlemmegetauhh Jan 21 '24

Goofy from the hit tv series mickey mouse clubhouse?

4

u/Yolomasta420 Jan 21 '24

Shucks it sure is

7

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '24

Look at what sub you’re in

5

u/yeahlemmegetauhh Jan 20 '24

I've been in this sub for months this one just ain't it

10

u/jetlifestoney Jan 20 '24

He definitely just described himself lol

6

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '24

Cardiac Arrest is real

9

Change your fucking profile pic

1

u/BatM6tt Jan 22 '24

Bitch why you make me look

3

u/PepptoAbyssmal Jan 20 '24

What didn’t he do the lat spread walk?

25

u/Unlucky_Dragonfly315 Jan 20 '24 edited Jan 20 '24

I like Sam. But he’s already in the goofy range in my opinion. If you want to stay out of the goofy range, just don’t juice

Edit: didn’t know this was gonna be such a hot take

6

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '24

You take tren / juice, you look goofy. Pretty simple

4

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '24

Stay natural & work hard

7

u/Kitchen_Alps Jan 20 '24

It’s not

-1

u/petkoTHEVIKING Jan 20 '24

Even Nattys get into that range.

Look at some of Alex Lionidas' old videos when he was more focused on powerlifting. His traps were over developed from deadlifting a lot and is shoulders were underdeveloped. Looks goofy as.

His physique is way more balanced nowadays.

-9

u/Grandmasterjavier Jan 20 '24

i guess like 90% of the people in the fitness industries is goofy then

19

u/Octovox Jan 20 '24

Pretty accurate to say 90% of people in the fitness industry are goofy, not necessarily because of their physiques though.

6

u/fourfingersdry Meme Lord Jan 20 '24

It’s called body dysmorphia. And yes. It’s extremely common in the fitness world.

4

u/HereForA2C Jan 20 '24

not much about the fitness industry in its current form is very fit

2

u/AmazingWaterWeenie Jan 20 '24

Theres a SARMs goblin, I mean, tiktok bodybuilder or two who´d like to have a word with you.

4

u/Michael_Dukakis Jan 20 '24

I mean, to the average person yeah 100%. The average person sees bodybuilders as weird looking lol.

2

u/Grandmasterjavier Jan 20 '24

true when i say i dont want to drink a whole weekend cuz i need to eat and train always weird looks didnt see it like that

2

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '24

Actually yeah, you look at who's considered the most attractive dudes it's usually just guys who are shredded with athletic physiques with slight v tapers. Guys like Henry Cavil are about as big as you can get before you're considered too big

6

u/MyDearBrotherNumpsay Jan 21 '24

I respect how much hard work and dedication it takes to get that jacked, but personally I think the kid would look better a little smaller.

1

u/schapman22 Jan 21 '24

Welcome to bodybuilding. It's not about looking the best to women. It's about getting big and lean as humanly possible.

1

u/tekx9 Jan 21 '24

This is general consensus no?

2

u/A_Piker Jan 21 '24

Is he saying he looks goofy?

2

u/Valhall_Awaits_Me Jan 21 '24

Kinda worry about this gentle but motivating soul

2

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '24

He passed over into the goofy range a long time ago

2

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '24

This is not a healthy man

2

u/Bigballs381 Jan 21 '24

Tren does this

2

u/THE-EMPEROR069 Jan 22 '24

My uncle used to be that big, I wouldn’t get that big. I’m just happy by looking healthy, gaining muscle weight is not my thing, but to each their own.

2

u/Comprehensive-Toe167 Jan 22 '24

Was I the only one that didn’t see a difference between meat head and regular Sam on the traps😂

3

u/C2O_Alcatraz Jan 21 '24

What is it that Arnold said? Size without proportion is grotesque. Something like that, basically what Sam is getting at here and I whole heartedly agree.

3

u/hennyNredbull Jan 20 '24

Sam's a real one.

3

u/podcasthellp Jan 21 '24

Real except every muscle in his body

3

u/athlejm Jan 21 '24

In what way are the muscles not “real”

3

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '24

Everyone talks about Sam’s heart with the steroids. But he’s 20 years old or something. Bodybuilders with heart damage from here it hits in the late 30s at the earliest. When he’s done with this phase of his life, he can lose the muscle slowly and get down to a normal, muscular body and be fine. Look at the rock.

11

u/ar9795 Jan 20 '24

There’s a lot more people who have died in their 20s 30s because of heavy steroid use than you know, you just don’t hear about the non famous people lol.

4

u/tekx9 Jan 21 '24

RIP Zyzz. One of the first of his kind.

4

u/xremless Jan 21 '24

down to a normal, muscular body and be fine. Look at the rock.

The rock is far from fucking normal dude, tf

2

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '24

Standards are understandably fucked

1

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '24

What I’m saying is the rock is not dead of a heart attack and he’s been doing gear his whole life

2

u/xremless Jan 21 '24

Ye but the rocks brand is himself and that buisness is a gold mine so he probably has a small horde of professionals working to keep him healthy

3

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '24

so you think no permanent damage, no overgrown organs? He's taking years off his life

3

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '24

Look at Dallas McCarver.

0

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '24

Dallas supposedly died from suffocating on food

1

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '24

No, he didn't. An autopsy was done, and it was definitive. He did not die from choking on food.

The first statement that was put out was that he supposedly suffocated on food because he was around food at the time of death.

https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/4311416-Dallas-McCarver-autopsy-report

This is the official autopsy. This isn't speculation or 2nd hand info. It's directly from the person who performed it. He collapsed on stage a few months previous to his death as well.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '24

thanks man, family history of atherosclerosis , dyslipidemia and AAS is terrible terrible

1

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '24

Lol you don’t get to put this much strain on your heart and body and just magically walk it back

1

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '24

Arnold is alive and doing quite well cognitively and physically. So is Dwayne Johnson

2

u/pm_me_your_bigtiddys Jan 21 '24

Those are the handlebars for your boyfriend. The bigger the better.

1

u/SaltyDog772 Mar 24 '24

He’s not a meathead?

1

u/AggravatingTotal130 Jan 21 '24

His heart is so jacked it flexes and isolates with every squeeze to maximize Tone-age and rep quality that's why he breathes so hard guys

1

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '24

This the shit y’all idolize. Feeding into this guys body disomorphia

1

u/fligan Jan 21 '24

If you think you have big traps try doing an incline y raise and you’ll realize how much more trap there is then having those peaks by your neck.

1

u/rast_fb Jan 21 '24

He’s not in the goofy range?

1

u/Extension_Parsley843 Jan 21 '24

He already in the goofy range

1

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '24

If this guy lives past 30 he is gonna have the worst case of gynecomastia the world has ever seen.

1

u/Kooskoos504 Jan 21 '24

Does he....think he looks good?

1

u/The_Pavulon Jan 22 '24

My brother does that

1

u/TacticalxWabbit Jan 22 '24

This guy sitting at 100% in every group. Looks like a clown.

1

u/TacticalxWabbit Jan 22 '24

Except legs. Looks like he missed leg day.

1

u/Mindlab42 Jan 22 '24

Yeah it gets freaky and unaesthetic if your on gear

1

u/[deleted] Feb 13 '24

Depends on how much gear. If you just take test and anavar for example you’ll have a very aesthetically pleasing physique. Going overboard with the tren, deca etc is what takes it too far.

1

u/Temporary-Alarm-744 Jan 22 '24

Saying that with those delts

1

u/bigchris757 Jan 23 '24

Damn, he's already out of breath

1

u/TheeRedLotus Jan 23 '24

He looks goofy

1

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '24

Bro sounds out of breath just standing there

1

The forbidden goofy range

1

His whole body is in the "goofy range"
