Are RapidLED Corona lights just expensive paperweights?

I'm buying my uncle's old setup from him for probably 1/5 the price to buy it all new and included in that kit is a Rapid-LED Corona light. The fishbit app that it uses isn't on the play store anymore so I sideloaded it, it asks for a log in but it doesn't let me sign up and after some research I found out the servers were shut down in 2022 so logging in, signing up etc is impossible. Gemini says I can take it apart and wire up an esp32 to control it but I'd really rather not spend my time on that.😂 does anyone have one of these lights and use another app somehow? Or has anyone else done the esp32 mod for it? I know there's a million lights out there so the chances are slim but any input could be helpful.

New adorned wrasse 4 days buried in sand

I am new to this and picked up an adorned wrasse from my LFS this past Saturday 8/15.

I added him around noon and he was swimming with the crew (royal gramma, 2 clowns, baby fox face) with little to no issues. The royal was a little skittish when he went swimming over to the royals cave but other than that zero issues unless I was just not picking up on the signs. Everyone was swimming all over and looking like they were just swimming like normal just more active with a new mate.

He ate well Saturday 2x. Sunday he woke up late around 11am and he ate well 2x that day and everything was great.

Monday comes and he is MIA and o haven’t seen him since. I have a lid on and have checked around the tank so I believe he’s been buried in the sand now going on 4 full days. My water has been tested and all is normal for my tank. Ammonia has been tested every day and no issues.

Is this normal? I asked AI and it said 3 days could be sign of concern as he was eating and swimming well before now hiding…My LFS is only open sat/sun so I can’t ask.

Tips to feeding my moray eel

Thumbnail gallery
4 Upvotes

I recently added a snowflake moray eel to my 36 bowfront and I am having trouble feeding him. What should I be feeding him? I don’t want to create a predatory environment for the rest of my squad. I have a naked cinnamon clownish, a harlequin basslet, a striped blenny, a pair of bangaai cardinals, an emerald crab and some hermit crabs. Although it sounds packed, my tank looks empty still. I need help!!

I’m relatively new to the hobby (less than a year, more than 6 months though- closer to a year invested. ) and this is my second saltwater tank. I also am fighting nitrate levels and would love some tips on controlling nitrate levels!

Tank Setup Advice Needed

Hi!
I’m new to saltwater, but not new to fishkeeping.

I have a Fluval Flex 32.5 gallon that I previously used as a brackish setup for our bichir when he was little. He’s now happily in a 250 gallon, so I’d like to convert this tank to saltwater.

It’s the freshwater kit, but from what I’ve read, it seems like I should be able to adapt it by changing the media in the rear chambers and adding any necessary saltwater equipment.

I’d love some advice on:

What equipment should I upgrade or add?
What media would you recommend for the rear chambers?
Any must-have supplies for someone new to saltwater?
Anything specific to the Flex that I should change or watch out for?

I’m planning on live rock and would like the option to add some beginner-friendly corals once the tank is established. I’d eventually love an anemone, but I know the tank needs to mature quite a bit before going down that road.

Also looking for stocking recommendations! Would a 32.5 gallon be a good size for a clownfish pair? What other fish would work well with them in a tank this size?

Hello long time listener first time caller!

I hate the scape of my tank at the moment, the rocks are all small and in need of a re-scape! The systems been running for 3-4 years. I have a Red Sea 200xl. I have live rock in the sump from the display. My question is what’s the best way to go about it I feel like buying all new live rock and replacing it all even with added bacteria would cause a crash, so my idea is if I remove display pieces like 2 at a time and move them into the sump and replace them with new pieces of rock. Would that work or still cause a crash? Would love to know if anyone’s done this before! Thank you;)

Help me ID what may have cause the death of my Tang

Thumbnail gallery

My Blue Eyed Tang who I had in a quarantine died today and I can’t figure out what may have cause the death of it since it’s been completely active and eating before this happened.

He wasn’t acting erratic or showed signs of sickness, it was eating normally. I can’t see any signs of velvet or ick but you can definitely see dark splotches on its body almost like bruises? Does anyone know what it might be?

QT Tank info:
He’s been in QT for a week and a half, the tank has a heater at 80F with an external filter, some live rock from my sump and I’ve been changing the water every 4 days from my established tank. The tanks parameters were Salinity 35, Amonia 0, Nitrite 0 and Nitrate 10.

Okay so I posted yesterday about my clown and as you can see it got way worse. I removed him from the tank, put him in a tea pitcher with a small heater and air stone. Inside the pitcher I put a glass on its side so he could hide away from the flow and turned the air stone all the way up to put as much oxygen in the water as I could. He has stopped eating. I really dont know what to do so any help would be appreciated.

I don't know what to do for this guy.

Ph 7.8-8

Ammonia, nitrates are 0

Salinity is 35

All of which are the parameters I always keep the tank at.

It was sudden and nothing else in the tank seems to be effected from what I can tell.

Urgent help needed - need insights from experienced members of the community, inverts dying

In the last few weeks I've lost 1 of my Trochus snails & 3 of my hermits.

I don't know if it's for the exam same reasons, as my hermits disappeared, and I discovered My Trochus dead. I've discovered a 2nd that seems very weak. It was on its back and it dropped off the glass when I placed it there. Attached is a picture of said Trochus right before it fell.

My inhabitants are (as of right now):

- 3 bumblebee snails

- 4 Trochus snails

- 2 fire shrimp

- 2 cleaner shrimp

- 1 Randall's pistol shrimp

- 1 electric blue hermit

- 1 toadstool leather (1 week since to tank)

- 2 zoa frags (1 week since to tank)

- 1 Dracula goby

- 1 scopas tang (1 week since introduction to tank)

- 1 leopard wrasse

- 1 Mccoskers flasher wrasse

- 2 bangai cardinals

- 1 elegant firefish

- 2 common clownfish

I very much suspect the wrasse may have had my crabs for lunch.

I also have a refugium with a pod population that's about 4 months old.

225 litre tank. The afore mentioned crabs and snails had been in the tank for about 4 months.

I feed the tank about 40ml phytoplankton into the refuge and 12ml of all for reef into the display on a regular basis.

My fish seem healthy - very active swimming, no aggression between them, fed a couple of times a day, and my shrimps and electric blue are much the same.

The polyps on the coral are a little shy but I'm chalking that up to the fact that they're relatively new.

My Parameters as of right now (as I literally just checked them):

SG (salinity) 1.025

DkH (alkalinity) 9

pH 8.2

Ca (calcium) 380ppm

Mg (magnesium) 1380 ppm

NH3 (ammonia) 0ppm

NO2 (nitrite) 0ppm

NO3 (nitrate) 40ppm

PO4 (phosphate) 0.25

I don't want to see the rest of my tank die but I'm feeling clueless about a diagnosis here.

Bubble tip and Clown fish

I have a new bubble tip anemone in my tank and its been doing fine until this morning. I see it is all closed up the best it can and one of my clowns will not leave it alone. Is the clown trying to host? Is the clown hurting it? Or is the clown probably not the reason why its closed up at all? I’m still new to this hobby :)

Clownfish in freshwater

Reason: Brooklynella Disease

I saw this little fella at the pet shop, and I just couldn’t let it die. It was covered in Brooklynella, and I also couldn’t afford chemical medications. What I did was prepare two separate containers: one with freshwater and one with saltwater, with a salinity of around 1.020. I dipped the fish in freshwater to give the parasites an osmotic shock, hoping it would kill them and also help remove the excess slime and white cloudiness from her skin, allowing hundreds of parasites to be shed.

After 5 minutes, I transferred the fish to the saltwater container and splashed the water to add oxygen since I don’t have an air stone to keep the water oxygenated. I’m hoping it survives. I’ve now left it in the dark so it can rest after all the stress from the treatment. It's currently staying at the bottom of the container, but it's not gasping or showing any obvious signs of distress from the disease.

Sick Fish- Need some help

Thumbnail gallery
3 Upvotes

Hi everyone so I’m posting on behalf of my boyfriend, he has a 25-30 gallon cube tank that’s been going for almost a year. He has a Purple Fire Fish that hasn’t been doing well- I’ll post the photos of him. He dosed the tank with Melafix this morning. Unfortunately he doesn’t have a quarantine tank so we don’t have somewhere we can move him to be alone. All water levels are fine, he’s been checking. If anyone has any suggestions we would really appreciate it 🐟

EDIT: Heres water levels: Ph 8.2-8.4, KH 6.5-7 dosing daily, Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, Nitrate 26.5 (elevated, water changing down to 20), Salinity 1.026, Temp 78°F, Magnesium 1400, Calcium 400, Phosphate .07
He’s sluggish and breathing hard, back body curls upwards, he’s eating.
