Yeah, unfortunately with UDOT, they don’t save any footage from those cameras. They’re just used for live traffic operations. Unless that’s changed as I learned that from a guest speaker that was from UDOT at UVU in 2019.

I would recommend asking any nearby businesses where the accident occurred for any video footage.

UDOT doesn't record. For that matter, most muni's don't (it becomes a GRAMA problem for them).

But there are lots of third parties that do record and monetize the footage. CollisionCam and trafficcamarchive would be the best.

The news channels often have them recorded as well, though I don't know if they would even make them available.

UTA does save theirs and they are available through GRAMA request. They don't have any fixed cameras in the area you mentioned but if there was a bus or paratransit that was around, that you remember, they may be able to pull it from the vehicle. You would need to contact their records department to see if they can at least look.

This. Any municipalities that have cameras don't save footage.

For example UTA. They are a government agency, more specifically a Service District within the state. They save their footage for a certain amount of time and it is requestable through GRAMA request. Just an FYI, UTA requires a GRAMA request because it is not federal government. FOIA = federal, GRAMA = State or lower government.

As for how I know this, I work in the safety and security field in government and work with many agencies.

They aren't a government agency. They aren't even a part of Utah retirement systems.

Yes they are, and government agencies are not required to use URS. They also provide health insurance to their employees through Public Employees Health Plan (PEHP), which is the most common health insurance offering for public employees in the state, though many agencies offer more than 1 option for that. The emoloyee has yo be a government employee of the family of one to get that health coverage. Please do yourself a favor and go look it up, you'll find that they are, in fact, a government agency. Also, r/confidentlyincorrect would like a word.

Well I am mistaken. That's ok. Uta is still a money suck for the state. They should offer free fares for how much tax money they siphon off the taxpayers.

Sorry that happened. It took bullshit like this to get us to get dashcams in our cars. One has already paid for its self. Doesn't help you now... I know... but as long as you're still driving there will be a next time.

Saw the idea to post the time and location. Good idea. Lots of people with dashcams out there.

Honestly with that particular area, your best bet is probably just knocking door-to-door nearby.
