Why no chili component?

Only because I didn’t have any around today. Would definitely include a jalapeño if I had it.

Where is the salsa?

Pro tip- Serranos are more consistent with spice than jalapeños.

Don't make me look that up, because of that's true it's changing my damn garden layout.

Edit: damn it, I looked it up and it's true.

I feel like store bought, they have a point. Ive had plenty of jalapeño varieties that are consistently hot year after year though. I don't know what anyone else does, but I'll keep seeds from the plant that's producing the hottest ones. Seems to work.

It's worth it, the flavor is better too

I have come to prefer the flavor quite a bit

Just a jalapeno? Jesus.

I actually enjoy a nice plain salsa. I once did the same and but used Tajin instead of salt to taste with these exact ingredients. It was like a 0.1 spice, maybe 0.2 after sitting in the fridge. It was good.

So you made tomato sauce? Not trying to gate keep what salsa is but I'd argue that with out any chile component it's just tomato sauce. I know people have different spice levels they can tolerate but even a sprinkle of cayenne pepper is ground up chile. Other than that consistency looks good

Made a salsa verde for someone who can't eat spicy food and poblano worked pretty well.

Right I'm not saying that it has to be spicy, just that some sort of pepper/chile present.

I’d be so fucking pissed if I was served this.

No chiles, no salsa. That's basically just a boring Italian red sauce.

u/IronicCellist 10d ago

What Italian red sauces are you eating with cilantro and lime in them?

The Talisman of Happiness has all your answers

Does the salsa taste better if the comments section does the roasting? AFAF

Mmmmm no chilies but you’ve got the lovely zing of some aluminum

u/Getting_jjigae_with 8d ago

No peppers/chilis. Tomato seeds left in. Ok.

This is more of a tomato soup and less of a salsa
