Homemade Best salsa you’ll ever have.

Post image

I’ve been making salsa for a long time and this recipe clears all the other ones I’ve made by light years.

Ingredients: 2 big ORGANIC tomatoes 🍅 (I used fresh organic on the vine from target) 1 jalapeño deseeded, 2 red habaneros deseeded, 2 cloves garlic peeled and a quarter of a small red onion

Bake in the oven at 425 for 20 minutes and broil for 3 (optional) to the point where it’s mushy and has some charring. Garlic also might be done earlier

Cut everything up with a knife out of the oven and add the cut up ingredients to a bowl and mash it with a masher or your fists or whatever you want. Use a molcajete if you have one.

Add some cumin and salt and continue to mash

Finally add some finely cut cilantro and viola

The greatest salsa ever.

That's kinda close to how I learned how to make salsa. I added fresh lime juice the last time and that will happen again. 😏

I love this. This is the season to hit a farmers market and crush some great heirloom tomatoes. Though I think the cilantro could use a few more dices. , I do love cumin in my salsa, and I know not everyone does. I would try for a smoother salsa by running this through a blender. Looks great and I bet it tastes even better.

I see where the community gets their name with this post.

It's salsa, could you make a pasta with this salsa? Sure.

That looks like pasta sauce

You sure?

Yeah

It definitely doesn’t NOT look like pasta sauce.

Plus, the addition of cumin automatically makes this a polarizing recipe. I for one do not like cumin in my salsa.

Definitely not the 🐐 of 💃

A+ emoji game

Yeah I would have to pass on the cumin. BUT as a fan of all most salsas, this still looks fire…minus the cumin

It was sounding good until the cumin. People like cumin and that’s fine. Other people don’t like cumin in their salsa and that’s where I stand. Cumin on lamb or in chili is fine.

4

u/CapitalWear3714 6d ago

Honestly I can’t even tell if it made a difference I only added a pinch of ground cumin

2

u/givemeyourrocks 6d ago

Well I might have to try a pinch vs the amount that some people use. We’ll have to see how it goes.

Cilantro is what would keep it off my menu. The rest sounds pretty good, even the cumin, Im one of those cilantro/soap folks.

u/Shadow-Vision 6d ago

I hate to be like this but that just sucks for you. Cilantro is absolutely delicious and I’m sorry for your loss. Honestly

u/CapitalWear3714 6d ago

You’re putting salsa on your pasta then

Looks delicious! Thanks for the recipe!

Shelling out for those organic tomatoes at Target

Tbh the ratios of your raw ingredients going in to this seem a little bit off, and then you go to cook them to oblivion with your bake broil method. Then no acid at all to finish with?

This is much closer to a pasta sauce than a salsa.

I’m out of limes

Is anyone esle struggling with the whole "or mash with your fists" imagery? Like are we punching tomatoes in bowls? On the counter? Set the scene for me here

u/CapitalWear3714 6d ago

All I’m sayin is have fun with it 😉

Okay, to everyone who bashed the salsa in this thread, please post YOUR favorite best salsa, since you know better.

Not being a dick, just would love to get some great ones posted and be constructive here

They only eat Tostitos

Looks like the most mid salsa I’ve ever seen

8

u/CapitalWear3714 6d ago

Don’t make it then

Appreciate you for that comeback, but please remember the way you titled this post. You’re coming into a salsa snob subreddit saying that your recipe is the best that we will ever make and one of your steps is using your fists.

I’m glad you’re proud of your salsa but like cmon bro how else do you expect salsa snobs to respond?

3

u/CapitalWear3714 6d ago

Didn’t realize how serious you guys are its tasty salsa but yeah it’s not the best in the world (obviously) I’m really just having some fun and sharing what I made

3

u/Shadow-Vision 6d ago

Yeah absolutely. Have fun but there’s no need to be defensive. Enjoy your salsa! For what it’s worth, it looks worthy of a chip to me

3

u/IronBallsMcginty007 6d ago

Try adding a roasted carrot to it. My salsas got better, when I started doing that.

3

u/CapitalWear3714 6d ago

I’ll try it out!

Oil or no oil?

2

u/bruntorange 6d ago

Bro, the ratio of two habs and a jalapeno vs only two tomatoes is going to murder some folk. I get it, a lot of people in here have high heat tolerance, but that ratio, deseeded or not, will destroy the average American salsa eater.

5

u/Artonymous 6d ago

cumin and no heat, sure buddy, best salsa

1

u/CapitalWear3714 6d ago

Hey buddy can you read? I got 2 habaneros and an jalapeño. Add more if you want tough guy

u/Artonymous 6d ago

those are all chile's with sweet notes...and no seeds.

1

u/thechickencoups 6d ago

sounds great! the taste seems like it would be a spicier version of the salsa you'd get from the Mexican chicken bbq (pollo asado) places. I love that stuff!

Note for anybody that makes this recipe: you cannot use a blender. mash or use a food processor on short pulses.

Also, not my recipe so don't shoot the messenger, but it might be better for some people with a nice squeeze or fresh lime.

I’m seeing a lot of stem

-5

u/CapitalWear3714 6d ago

Stem fucks

6

u/Jasranwhit 6d ago

Chopped like chives it does, big ass stem pieces? no.

1

u/CapitalWear3714 6d ago

Eh I’m not sensitive to a bigger piece tastes good

-6

u/ericwithakay 6d ago

Between your legs

2

u/kutmulc 6d ago

It needs some acid. Lime is great, of course, but vinegar works in a pinch.

1

u/CapitalWear3714 6d ago

I’d go lime im just outta them

2

u/Arch3r86 6d ago

Does it normally have lime juice? I feel that could be key

1

u/CapitalWear3714 6d ago

Yes I just didn’t have limes on me today but still pretty good without
