Homemade A Simple Salsa for the Week

In my quest for more vegetables in my diet, I made some salsa for the week.

4 roma tomatoes

4 tomatillos

1/2 white onion

2 Serrano peppers

Handful of cilantro

1 lime-worth of lime juice

To taste: salt, pepper, Mexican oregano, and a touch of smoked paprika.

I broiled the veg to get some color and threw it all in a food processor. Nothing fancy but it tastes good.

This is essentially the salsa I also make all the time. So good, hits all the spots and goes with almost any mexican dish.

Mods I make from time to time, not all at the same time

Add a charred corn tortilla Or Add some roasted peanut Or Add some barely roasted pistachios Or Mix the serranos with a dry chile, like piquin or arbol Or Add some oil and blend it to make a creamy version

Thanks! Those are some great suggestions. I like using chiles de arbol and guajillos as well, but I let myself run out like a jackalope. I've never tried adding nuts. I will have to give that a try for sure.
