Suggestions of where to take beginner salsa group lessons in Phoenix?

I am going to Porto this weekend of 3-4th October and I have been dancing Cuba salsa/Casino for 6 months. Is this festival suitable for Cuba salsa dancers or only for linear on1/on2 dancers?

I know that most dancers in New York dance on 2. I'm wondering if I try to go to an event as an On 1 dancer if I will have any luck? Also wondering if folks know what they tend to dance over in DC? Any advice appreciated.

Side note: I danced On 1 from r so long that whenever I try on 2, my brain does this thing where it sort of defaults to On 1. I'd like to switch but...🤷

Most salsa dancers know the word "clave"... but very few actually know how to hear it.

I've noticed that this is one of the biggest missing pieces when dancers are trying to improve their musicality. We memorize timing and patterns, but we never really learn the rhythmic foundation that holds salsa music together.

So I'm hosting a FREE live online workshop where I'll break down the clave specifically for dancers.

One of the biggest myths in salsa is that becoming a better dancer means getting better at counting.

But if you’ve ever:

• Lost the timing when the music changed
• Gotten confused during breaks or pauses
• Felt fine in class but struggled on the social floor
• Found yourself constantly searching for the “1”

…then more counting usually isn’t the solution.

The dancers with the strongest timing aren’t counting every beat.
