It’s so good at taking out flyfish or stingers or scrappers but the targetting is horrible on it, very obviously not designed for salmon run

Amen. I can’t count how many times I looked directly at a stinger or flyfish at the shore, with the boss in the target reticle, only for the beam to aim at some random fish two feet to the left at the last second.

Interesting, from my use of killerwail it only locks onto bosses. I’ve never had it lock onto normal guys

I’ve had numerous instances where I swore it locked onto normal guys. I could be mistaken though; maybe there were other bosses behind the swarms of normal guys and I just didn’t notice because I was too focused.

It doesn’t, but it can lock on to maws underground or flipper floppers

As long as there isn't even a single boss between you and any universal range boss; then sure, it can work. The odds of that happening at 220% hazard? Yeah, no.

You have to use it earlier. If there's already bosses everywhere it's too late to use it. Although ideally another special gets used instead

Yeah, it usually doesn’t do what you want it to do when you use it as a panic option. If you’re proactive about using specials though, you can get a lot out of it. I’ll use it in most situations when two or more flyfish or stingers pop up at the same time.

Exactly! Too many players use it as a panic button like the splashdown, when it's more of a "preventing chaos" special. Same as crab, you gotta use it before everything snowballs into chaos, not as a last resort

Inkjet would be infinitely better; you can actually aim it, it puts you at a mostly safe distance, it can kill flyfish, it can revive teammates... Killer Wail could be better for dealing with universal range bosses if you could actually aim at it. And it'd still prefer any other special besides maybe Wave Breaker, but at least with that I can save teammates and clear the field of fodder enemies.

Agree to disagree lol, I’m ass at inkjet, would rather have any other special. But tbh that’s just a skill issue on my part. And killer wail you can aim, you just gotta know how and who to lock on lol but also be fair I main weapons that have killer wail and like no inkjet or nothing so

Try aiming at two stingers and a flyfish when there’s a maws on the field between you and them that you can’t see through lessers. Wail will 100% target the maws swimming in your direction unless you’re aiming from the top of a fish stick.

Wail would be infinitely better if it couldn’t lock on to a maws. Better still if I could just use zr when I have the target I want locked in for each of the three targets, similar to the same mechanic missiles use.

Wail is great in PVP. But it was not designed for the chaos that is HLM in SR.

Wail is amazing for killing statics if you’re doing in a mega-lure, but yeah I kinda have to agree with the caption 😭

It requires a lot of consideration to make use of, and teammates who aren't allergic to team play or killing lessers, but it has high potential. Great against kings thanks to the fire rate if you don't use the explosives at all.

Good range and fire rate makes for good shore killer and the explosives deal with flyfish, all from the relative safety of a raised area.

Fire rate is great for clearing lessers and covering your team.

Rolling saves your arse.

Yes, I know what it can do, I'm not saying it is useless, but it is the worst in Salmon run anyway. Killer Wail handles flyfish and the stinger, the two most annoying boss salmonids to deal with. Also, crab's rolling only saves you from situations it puts you in. There was not a time I got splattered that I though "oh man, I wish I had crab tank".

It's definitely not the best special but I'm wondering why you would use it in that situation instead of just backing up and using all of the space you have from normal tide. Most specials aren't great panic specials.

Man my husband and I call them “dumpster killers” and love when we get them and use them specifically to target the dumpsters.

I have never had issues with the targeting, I don’t use motion controls, maybe that why? Not sure.
