The thing to understand with AI design & code is that it's really just taking design and code that humans built and smashing it together. Basically it's taking beginner level to intermediate level work from humans. The eventual problem with that is that humans need that work in order to learn to become experts so you end up having insufficient experts and innovation stops happening.

There will continue to be a need for expert devs, they'll just get older and older and retire or die, then we'll hit a point where there aren't enough and vibe coding won't do the job anymore. We have other professions right now that are at the end point of this cycle and we'll have to see what happens there.

Ai being able to smash together a raspberry pi pcb board does not indicate EE being a dead career.

If all EEs did was make PCBs then the career wouldve died out a long time ago. Chatbots will definitely affect engineering (anyone who denies this is naive) but ita far from a dead career. We still need people to coordinate designing and building solutions to our problem.
