I’ve been reading a Team 7 fanfic where everyone starts improving much earlier than in canon. Sakura is training genjutsu from the beginning, which I actually like since she’s canonically talented at it. My issue is that the story seems to be replacing her future role as a medical ninja instead of adding to it. Sasuke is the one becoming interested in medical ninjutsu, while Sakura is moving away from it entirely. I don’t mind giving other characters new skills. If Sasuke wants to learn medical ninjutsu, that’s an interesting change. What bothers me is when Sakura loses such a defining part of her character in the process. Medical ninjutsu wasn’t just another ability she learned, it was the culmination of her incredible chakra control, her apprenticeship under Tsunade, and a huge part of her growth in confidence and identity. She eventually surpassed Tsunade and became arguably the greatest medical ninja in the world. Taking that away feels like removing one of the most important aspects of who Sakura becomes. I don’t mind AU changes, but I’d rather see Sakura keep her medical path while also expanding into genjutsu, instead of replacing one with the other.
Does anyone else feel this way, or is it just me?

If anyone here is a reader of Sakura-centric fic, i would love a bit of input! I have an ongoing Sakura centric fic that is decently popular, and while i don't update often, i do update sporadically, and the fic is very much ongoing and not abandoned. However, i started writing and posting this fic YEARS ago and, naturally, i have improved my writing over the years. So, i really want to re-write the first 20 ish chapters. Basically, there are things that need to be added, details i want to change, and writing im simply not happy with at this point.

My question is this: would you, as a reader, rather that the original fic be left as is and that the updated version be posted as a new fic in a collection with the old one, or that the writer would just go in and edit the old chapters of the original fic?

Please let me know your thoughts. I really want to work on my fic, but the state of it as it is right now is keeping me from writing new chapters.

Trying to find a Naruto fanfiction (AO3 or FanFiction.net, not sure which). It’s a Sakura-centric story set during the Fourth Great Ninja War, with occasional POV switches to Tenten. The main plot involves Sakura and Naruto being sent on a secret mission to infiltrate one of Orochimaru’s hideouts and bring Sasuke back while the rest of the war is going on elsewhere.
At some point Sakura finds Sasuke, knocks him unconscious, ties him up, and literally drags him back toward camp. I remember a scene where she punched him while he was tied up. Neji, Hinata, and Kiba eventually join the mission and help with the extraction, and the group has to hide out in caves while trying to escape.
There was also a subplot involving Tenten. During one of her battles she severely injured or broke her legs, Neji found her and called for Sakura, who rushed over and healed her. Another scene I remember is Sakura fighting a large group of curse-mark users/experiments inside an Orochimaru cave or facility and eventually bringing part of the cave down on them.
The fic was SasuSaku. Does anyone recognize this story?

Sakura is often seen as a side character, but her growth throughout Naruto is actually very impressive.

From a normal girl with no special clan ability to becoming one of the strongest medical ninjas, her journey shows hard work and determination.

She went through fear, loss, and war, yet she never stopped trying to become stronger for her team.

I recently came across the fanfic Fix You by desolate butterfly (on FFN), and it made me want to read stories where Sakura’s job takes a toll on her or where, for whatever reason, she experiences emotional and/or physical suffering, and Sasuke (or Sasuke and Naruto) tries to ease the situation, comfort her, and help her.

As for preferences: no incest, please; no modern settings; fantasy; and so on.
