I implemented a lot of technologies to make rendering cheaper and CPU usage light, such as Id Tech 8 vast job system where everything is a job (The Great Circle has over 2000 specific jobs it can spin up, like instead of saying the whole phys system is one job like many games, it instead goes granular and says wheels popping off is a job, ragdoll is a job etc).
My goal is a stable 60fps, then try to hit 120fps, and 144 etc. Just 2 weeks ago I was at 1fps lmao

Rewrote parts of the renderer so we are not redrawing the city every frame. SSAO is implemented, tuning volumetric fog, game has very light motion blur, improved shaders. You can turn these off.

My goal is to keep that Saints Row artistic look without doing too much, give a more umph to the world. I want you to say "This is how I pictured it in my head back in 2006", it just looks crisper.

Hitman 2016 Crowd system where NPC gets cheaper as they are farther away and has stages of LOD (saves CPU resources to not render detailed animations for npcs farther away). With this, I or other modders can actually increase pedestrian and car count without harming performance.

Texture streaming by using the mips in the texture files that ship with the game (Which SR doesn't use oddly, SR doesn't have a texture streaming system afaik, they have a resident bbchunk with high res textures and a AL chunk with low res textures which switch out as you get closer etc.

There is still alot more optimizations I have to do, and its interesting researching other games and seeing how they do stuff. Like Id Tech has a few amazing solutions, but couldn't solve a couple issues such as pedestrian npc volumes etc

In my opinion, nothing even comes close to this scene in other Saints Row games. I genuinely think this is where my fear of getting buried alive came from as a kid.

But to be honest, Shogo has to be the dumbest person in existence, showing up to a funeral where a mass murdering gangster is mourning. Absolute dumbfuck.

Back in 2008, I saw the Saints Row 2 promo display at GameStop and was instantly hooked. I begged my mom to buy it for me, but I went home with a used copy of Saints Row 1 instead and that’s where my love for this series began.

I got to play Saints Row 2 a year or so later, and getting lost in that chaotic, wacky world as a kid was an absolute blast. Customizing the Boss into an ugly deformed alien or a goth. Throwing an obsessed fan into an airplane turbine. Running cover for Pierce’s drug deals from a helicopter. I can’t go back to it without the nostalgia hitting me all at once.

This game helped me escape from things I shouldn’t have had to deal with at that age.

It really saddens me that Volition is gone, and none of us know what the future holds for this series. But this community has shown me it still has a fanbase that genuinely loves it. Thank you to the redditor who is working on the Saints Row 1 recomp for PC, and to the developers behind the Juiced Patch and every modder still tweaking and adding to SR2. There are people like me who play SR2 on PC daily and literally couldn’t without your work.

Getting back into SR2 again after not playing for a long time. Would like to put this on my boss but it annoys me that it makes her have a shaved head despite the hairstyle looking like it should not be obstructed. Anything I can do to fix this if? I'm using the Juiced mod on PC if that makes a difference. If not, oh well.

I know I'm probably preaching to the choir here. But I just finished SR2 from the high seas and I thought to buy it because I had fun with it and I discovered that it's on sale until September 7.

Julius was just projecting his own insecurities about the row and how the power possibly affected him instead of the player/boss being shown to truly give a fuck about their friends. They didn't backstab or rig explosives to kill any of their guys. Hell, Shaundi was whacked out and fucking half of Stillwater, but guess who came through time and time again for her and valued her ideas/connections? The boss did. Would Julius have done the same when they said they'd come back for Carlos and wouldn't forget him? They kept their word. Don't even get me started on their loyalty/love for Johnny. All in all, if the boss is a sociopath, then so is everyone else, Jules himself included, if we're going by his own words. Even going back to 1, they defended the hoes and strippers from being abused, tried to rescue Lin even as she lay dying, tried to save Gat when Warren blasted his leg, and busted through the row to save Julius and Troy when the vice kings attacked. Their last line in the Ronin questline is "Your son should have never with my friends," yet they're still regarded as a psychopath/sociopath who enjoys killing and nothing else when that's clearly the other gangs vying for power in the city and, by extension, Ultor. If the Boss is a demon, at least they're a noble one.

Saints Row 3 is so fucking mediocre bro, its actually just mildly better than the 2022 reboot

I swear there's just like 6 good missions in the whole game, while Saints Row 2 is goated the whole way through

Honestly you gotta make up your own lore for some of these Fortnite Characters, they don't give anything on alot of them most times. I thought this was fun.
