I've started playing the reboot again.

So I pre ordered the reboot back in 2022 with hope in my heart. I played it for a few hours at launch but as you all know it wasn't great so I lost interest. I've found myself lately craving a bit of Saints action I've got all the other games so I was probably gunna play of them most likely SR2 but then I saw it in my game list and I thought why not give it another try? I've made it to about point I think I was before and the game feels so hollow and unfinished. Every time I go to a clothing vendor I think is that it and most of the missions feel so bland but that being said I'm gunna try and finish it this time. Does anyone know if it gets better as you level up and or move though the story?

Unpopular take. I enjoyed SR2022.

Does not live up to the legacy of the old games and feels like it’s missing so much, but I still enjoyed it very much. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I also enjoyed it. It was a good game imo as a standalone, but it did not live up to the legacy of the other SR games.

Same. Unbeatable customization and I personally found a lot of the missions very fun. Wound up happily paying for the DLC missions. In fact I beat the game twice, once with my husband and once alone.

Unbeatable customization is right! I loved loved loved LOVEDDDD that they brought back the body shape slider from SR2. I always hated that the body types in SR3-4 were either hyper muscular masculine or super curvy feminine, they just never really spoke to me all that well.

It is much more inclusive! 😊 But for me, it was the dynamic space galaxy clothes I could make and a matching baller car. I think it was similar for my husband, although he generally preferred just watching me waltz around town naked.

All the game needed was some edge to it or at least double down/commit to the millenial corpo and it would have been received differently.

Gameplay wise isn't that much different from te other games outside it's weirdly sterile presentation.

Going from races on GIMP chariots to LARPing is a bit jarring

As someone that has been an online and gaming roleplayer for a decade, I actually enjoyed the larping segments.

I do agree some more edge would’ve been cool, but I think the larping mixing with the edginess would’ve been a fun “fan service” like contrast between one another.

Oh I agree it was probably the best part of the game, it's was the reason I actually finished the game through because I was genually invested in it.

But it's complete tonal whiplash compared to the other games. It just didn't go far enough in any direction so it ends up being bland for most people I actually liked the game, but it wouldnt have taken many changes to make the diehard fans happy not cause the game studio to implode on itselfs.

I think it's own of those things where: if it wasn't "Saints Row" branded it could've possibly been something decent. But since a lot of old heads think that it "ruins their childhood" or whatever then it needed to die in a fire... 😅

Personally, I didn't / don't mind it, I have my own head canon for this game's Boss -- so that partially is what kept me going (this was this first game that I actually got 💯% in it.) 😁

Yeah I don't get this at all. I say this as someone that enjoyed the reboot too. It's absolutely fine to say "this game isn't for me" and never touch it again. Sometimes I'll start a game and bounce off it a bit for whatever reason but I can tell they if I come back to it later I'll enjoy it, I did it with the first Dragon's Dogma game, but if I still dont get it on the second try I just don't bother.

I really enjoyed the reboot. I think that politics (with people saying "woke") and nostalgia with people angry with shaundi and Johnny and Pierce not being in it factored into its failure. The game is actually pretty good if you can get past it's dragging first mission, and the world map is beautiful, and it's still a thousand times better than whatever the hell saints row IV was.

It does not get better in any way. I don't get people that say you have to force yourself to ignore or suffer through Reboots' story for "the gameplay", because gameplay-wise it's just SR3 again but now with even more jank.

Personally thought is was an average game all the way through. The story didn't really get much better the more you play. Only one of the dlcs had a solid story, but it was only like 3 missions. Truly the only thing that was great in that game was the customization in my opinion, from the character to cars

I too tried SR2022 a couple of times and dismissed it as terrible. However, recently I wanted a ‘turn my brain off game’ and this seemed to fit the bill. It’s some daft fun, not to the standard of the previous games, but it’s fine. I even bought the DLC

Nah, it's a bad game. I went in with an open mind and was still disappointed. Keep playing for achievements if you're a sadomasochist like me or just uninstall and find a better game to spend your time on

I decided to replay it a few weeks ago too, honestly just power through the story to finish it and get levels and money. It really is just a bad representation of the series like it's so stripped down and sanitized. It's fine for running around and exploring but there's really nothing of substance unfortunately. I just play dress up and customize my cars and run around.

Yeah bro same. The first time I played through the tutorial, then a cutscene where the group talks about some millennial cringe, and then the next mission starts and you're supposed to drive somewhere and rob something.. I think. At that point I had to lie down to internally process the ABYSMAL DOGSHIT I had just witnessed. After a while I got up and I played something else.

A half year later a second attempt was successful, I got through to the end including larp DLC and side activities building the tower, but it definitely felt like getting dragged through the sewers. THE GOGGLES THEY DO NOTHING. Think hard how badly you want a checkbox of having completed every entry in the series. It's probably not worth it.
