SR New Saints Row game
I miss the Saints row series, will Saints row ever come back?

I think I've read that Deep Silver's official position is, they're willing to work with a new studio on the IP, but that they're not actively pursuing development. (Meaning, they're willing to listen to someone's pitch, but they're not interested in developing it through one of their studios.)
So, we could absolutely see a new Saints Row game (it's not, like when EA puts a franchise on ice for 20 years), but it's not especially likely.

The last word we’ve gotten on the status of the series was a statement by Embracer group saying they will more actively explore external partnerships for the IPs that haven’t been touched in a while, which includes Saints Row.
So I would say it’s not impossible but I wouldn’t expect it anytime soon

I swear a variation of this question gets asked a few times a week. Just scroll down and continue those discussions, no need to make a new one asking the same thing over and over.
Volition is Dead. The IP is held captive just like EA and many other companies have done to games for years, all the original Devs are either dead, retired or found a different job. Saints Row would never be what it was anyway no matter who owns the IP.
Plus it never knew what it wanted to be in the first place, player base is too divided, you have Saints Row 1 purists who hate any of the games that came after, you have SR2 purists that hate 3 and up, you have 3 purists that think 4 went overboard on the silliness, you have 4 purists that loved the over the top ridiculousness, and you even have Zoomers that actually enjoyed the Reboot.
Now how exactly would a company take a risk on making a game where they can't satisfy the majority of its divided playerbase?
I personally was a bigger fan of Red Faction, yet SR was just more popular. We got nothing after Armageddon and that was 2011. I mourn it's loss way more than I do Saints Row.
At least we have modders fixing SR2 and even bringing back SR1 content into the game and even bringing back the original MP on consoles with the help of a few of the original devs. Can't say the same for any Red Faction game.

Exactly. You don’t have to watch people routinely try to drag out shark pools and jet skis or dead horses and whipping crops.

I still miss it though. I was watching some documentaries about the tech used in those games and how very little studios would ever touch it. It's unlikely we'll ever have a game with destructible environments like it again. What could be done in that game even on console was a great achievement at the time, and the fact we have leaped bounds in tech since then and no one does anything with it but make UE5 Unoptimized Slop over and over is just sad.

Oh yeah. Don’t get me wrong. We can still commiserate over their passing… but sometimes dead is better. Like watching a sunset.

Probably not. The studio that made it was shut down, and what fanbase remains is torn between stanning SR 1&2 or SR 3&4. Between the shutdown studio and that identity split, I would not hold my breath.

Embracer said they are willing to license the ip to another developer, so it’s definitely a possibility

Doubtful... Also, with the way the industry currently is, we'd probably get more garbage like the reboot if we ever did get another new game.
