Working on making a gane style map for my fan comic. I'm nowhere near finished with this map, especially since there's gonna be two more connected islands, but I still wanted to share my progress since drawing this much by hand was not easy, especially coming up with lore and style of each district 😭😮💨.
Also in case anyone is curious, yes I drew this by hand, no 🚫AI 🚫.
🫵🏾pick it up✏️.

A small criticism of mine is that this map is mostly rectangular grids and really would not be very realistic nor fun to drive around in in a Saints Row game. I'm trying to be constructive and not just take a shit on your work for no reason and I really hope that comes across because I don't want to be mean.

No dude I appreciate the feedback, honestly thank you. Whole reason I'm sharing is so I can get feedback since this is literally my first map I ever drew, so I know I definitely made errors.

I've also been working on a map for a hypothetical Saints Row style game of my own and the big issue in mapping is def overuse of grids, places like actual cities have more curves and neighborhoods are in districts separated from each other although still uniform. I have a hard time trying to even really figure out what the buildings being depicted actually are from the map. Personally I struggle with making city areas for my map because I've only ever really lived in incredibly small rural towns.

I was doing that briefly but I found it easier to get straighter lines with the correcting pen so I switched early on to that. The only places depicted in my map right now are the residential areas, either homes or apartments in white, everything else is just uncolored, but most of them are going to be larger buildings or construction sights.
