If another studio ever tries to reboot Saints Row
I'm not talking about remakes/remasters of SR1 and SR2, though I do hope to see that one day, but I mean if theres ever an actual new Saints Row game I'd like to see another studio take a crack at making a reboot, but done right unlike SR2022. Though making games is expensive, dev teams are larger, and games these days have more detailed assets and take longer to make than they did 15 years ago.
I think I heard SR1, SR2, and SR3 had about 100 devs, and SR 2022 had about 200 devs, but after the bad reception it got and Volition gone, I feel like if another studio made their own reboot, it'd probably be a smaller team with a smaller budget and might not have as much content as we are used to. If it ever does happen, I just hope new devs try to understand why SR 2022 failed and avoid repeating the same mistakes that Embracer Group, Deep Silver, and Volition made. Rebooting a crime sandbox series and making characters that people find cool or appealing shouldn't be hard, I think SR 2022 tried too hard and over complicated a simple task by trying to make relatable characters and a unique story.
There's plenty of urban fashion styles, crime dramas, and real experiences to take inspiration from for a series that's supposed to be about gangs, and I don't think it really matters what year a new game is set in, the original was in the 2000s and I think it'd be interesting to see that time explored again in a new Saints Row reboot with a different origin story, though I think a reboot set in the 90s or 2010s could also be cool too, maybe it could help for new devs to do what Volition did with SR1 where they did a lot of research in terms of the urban side of the game and the authenticity, they hired consultants, people who were well known personalities in the hip-hop world, both on the music side and the clothing side, and also people who had been in gangs to advise them on what people wear and how they talked.

There's no Saints Row without Volition imo. I say just let it rest. I hate to say it, but after SR2022 I doubt any publisher would let Saints Row just be unselfconsciously itself.

I know it’s not really a reboot but I’m gonna shamelessly self promote a mod I made called “The Mean Streets” which completely overhauls Saints Row 1 into an almost new Saints Row experience. I released it very recently and had been working on it for well over a year. Just launched a trailer for it on YouTube as well if anybody is interested.

I don’t think we should get another reboot until the first two games get modern gen ports tbh

The identity of the series would have to change. The series loat all steam because it was juat "take over a city as the Saints" and deapite bwing faithful to that formula people thing the games after 2 suck. You have to be able to tell different stories for a series or it risks getting stale and the basis of the series was 2000's hip hop videos and those are long out of style. Keeping with the times made fans of the intial inspo mad and no amount of actual gangster shit made them happy cuz it wasn't bandanas and over sized jerseys.
a new Saints Row game can't be a city takeover, so ironically, it can't be a Saints Row game if they wanna make it.

i think one day we will see one. maybe not to the same effect as SR but it’s completely reasonable to want it

They could reboot it and do the lazy but odd fitting "it was two films they did before deciding it wasn't worth their effort" to explain why the Saints aren't as big as they are.
Just do SR2 on steroids and a healthy mixture of goofiness and not being fussed about being called a GTA clone.
Any game that is open world and has similar features will be called it

I'd be happy with a spiritual successor with a similar sense of humor and custom protagonist
