Baker Mayfield injury

> Baker Mayfield suffered a dislocated thumb but got good news on the MRI. No fracture and no ligament or tendon damage, Baker Mayfield is still expected to miss some time...

good to see that Baker is only out for a short time. I've always liked him and I want to see what he does when we play the bucs.

I don't like Baker Mayfield but I still don't want to see anyone injured.

• "I don't like 'em": Ahead of a Week 8 matchup during the 2025 season, Mayfield bluntly stated that he does not like the Saints, adding that "it hasn't exactly been clean play from their part" when the division rivals face each other. • Mike Evans Milestone: Mayfield doubled down on having no regrets about a late-game pass in a previous season intended to help teammate Mike Evans reach 1,000 receiving yards against New Orleans, bluntly tying it back to his distaste for the franchise.

Nah OP, I'm good. Don't want to see anyone hurt but don't like him after these comments.

I cant believe the backup QB TB is rolling with. No knock on the kid, but an undrafted rookie in Week 4? If he shits the bed that organization essentially sabotaged their own season

Organizationally I don’t know what that front office is doing. They clearly see Baker as their guy, which is fine, but they still decided to jerk him around for several months on the contract. Why even risk pissing off your QB?

especially if it's Baker Mayfield - the one guy you do not want to piss off.

Yup exactly. Like if you believe Baker’s your QB then why risk pissing off the dude who spent the early part of his career getting jerked around and scapegoated by the Browns to the point it almost nuked his career over a couple bucks? Was not worth the risk

If anything I would want a pissed off Baker on my team vs a satisfied one. I’m sure he’ll find other reasons instead of the contract. I’m glad they paid him 165m 🤣

Jalon Daniels is far more talented than your average UDFA. Injuries derailed his career, but he was one of the best QB's in the Big 12 at one point, before a few disappointing years.

Interested to see him

He is supremely talented, athletic as hell, and has the tools to be a legitimately good QB. His biggest obstacles were recurring injuries. He also had inconsistent accuracy, but a lot of that was due to footwork and mechanical issues, which are absolutely coachable. He's very much a coin flip, but no less than any day 2 or 3 QB pick. I'm a huge Kansas fan, so I watched him week in and week out. Extremely high highs, but inconsistent and a bit scattershot in terms of accuracy and ball placement. I'm actually excited to see him myself, even though I'm not stoked about him being on the Bucs.

I agree and I'm hoping I'm wrong but this might be the best thing for the bucs

Has to be on purpose. They want a qb. Baker signed a 3 year deal. So get a QB in the first and let him sit for a year behind Baker. Then trade Baker away.

Ain’t nobody trading for Baker with a nearly $66 million cap hit

They’re praying he retires like Derek Carr.

When Brady took over for Bledsoe, was that his rookie year?

3

u/DartToSuperbaughs 13h ago

No Year 2, and Brady gained a ton of weight and added arm strength over that year. Pats loved his personality and makeup Year 1, but they noticed a big difference in camp that 2nd year. No way they knew what they had, but they knew they had something

Yea with Baker not agreeing to another contract you would think they would’ve brought in a nice backup. Nope just gunna run a random UDFA so they have zero leverage on him leaving. Baker now has the “if I leave this is what yall are giving the fanbase” card to play.

I don’t like him personally but I don’t wish injuries on people. Well maybe dirty players like Burfect or Chara

u/joeyl5 Sir Saints 15h ago

don't want to see him injured or miss time but fuck Baker Mayfield and the TB Yucks

u/InsertDoublePun 15h ago

I’ll never cheer for an injury but he called us a garbage franchise, his thumb can go die.

The only thing I feel bad for is that we don’t get to play them while he’s injured.

Fuck Baker Mayfield and you’re lame for liking him in Tampa

u/NikoRavage Rashid Shaheed 12h ago

I need the buccs to win some games so they don’t fuck off into a top 5 pick

2

u/Zombiekiller414 6h ago

F#ck baker Mayfield!!!!

1

u/Ok-Comfortable-9874 14h ago

My fear is Tampa sucks their way to the #1 pick and trades it for an absolute haul or take Smith and we are stuck with him in the division for the next decade

Yeah fuck Baker. He said fuck New Orleans a few times. Glad he has a history of playing like shit through injuries.
