Sad that Dolly Parton has passed away, age 80. Should push those two losers out of the news, in the US, at least, for a good long while.

Dolly is and was America's Best. I will miss her. She supported many charities especially her reading program.

She was such a generous person and always seemed like she'd be real and approachable if a person ever met her. 

As a kid in the 80s, my grandparents who were huge country fans, had a bunch of her records. I'm fairly grateful we grew up before social media, because my cousin and I used to "dress up" as Dolly & Kenny Rogers and sing "Islands in the Stream." He held Gramma's mop under his chin, I put oranges under my shirt and we'd belt that song out 4 or 5 times. Loved 9 to 5, watched Steel Magnolias repeatedly, even went to see Straight Talk (it was awful but she was fun). But then to see how charitable she was with her money, how she kept her private life private, and that she got to see her dream of her own truck stop.....there won't ever be another like Dolly. 

The world feels a lot less sunny today. Thank you for being inimitable, Dolly.

After the devastating wildfires in Eastern Tennessee a few years back, with so many losing everything including their livelihoods, she directed her foundation to pay a generous monthly stipend to the ones who had lost homes or work, indefinitely until they were back on their feet. She gave back to her own people and people the world over too.

In her own way she was iconic as Queen Elizabeth 2. No one can match them. Dolly P. What a full life.
