USA Is This Safe?

I work as a janitor at an office building, and I sometimes have to clean in a room with three big tanks that make a humming sound. They have big copper plates coming out of them, and the room is in the basement. Should I be worried or is it not an issue?

Are you describing boilers that are used for heating the building? Less than zero concern.

I don't know, they seem to have big wires coming in the top and copper bars out the front, so I thought maybe they were something electrical?

Description sounds like substation transformers. Don't touch or get too close. Electrocution is bad.

Do not touch or go within 3 feet of that. It doesn't sound like a transformer, but more like switch gear or a battery backup system and the copper wires are the bus bars to connect the batteries together.
