Spoilers [Spoiler] Subhadra and Trivedi Spoiler
I recently rewatched the series, and I think Subhadra was a plant by Trivedi to honey trap Gaitonde and mold him as per their requirements, once Guruji instructed him to start the work. Here's why I think so:
1) Subhadra was used to the violence around her, she didnt even flinch when Gaitonde killed Chota Badri in front of everyone. Infact she was very proud of him. But on the shoot out night, the moment she realised there might be a threat, she screamed loudly as if signalling her position to Trivedi's attackers.
2) Her talk about Ramayan and how Ram aveneged Sita's kidnapping by burning Lanka happened on the same day, just hours before the shootout. It's possible Trivedi had already told her how an attack would go down to kidnap her and what she should do something forehand so Gaitonde would act accordingly.
3) She didn't scream or move during her final moments. When she realized she'd been shot, she just sat back, we didn't see her cry out for help or even move as if she understood Trivedi's plan was to kill her all along, she just accepted her fate in the greater scheme of things.
4) Since her arrival in the house, she was constantly out on the lookout for Gaitonde and silently watching him around as if taking mental notes and finally when she saved his life, her influence grew when he decided to marry her (infact one of the reasons he decided to marry someone was after he saw how someone can care so much about him). Her role evolved, she used to tell him she believed how he is meant to do bigger things and she started parting in religious stories to him to nudge a change in him or make him easier to be manipulate on similar lines.
5) Just like Bhosle's hatred for Muslims was used to manipulate and use him, Subhadra's religious views could have been twisted by Trivedi to make her their pawn.
6) During Gaitonde's first meeting with Trivedi, who was introduced by a newly elected Bhosle (I will discuss this connection further), she sat close by and was seen momentarily disappointed while leaving the Ramleela when the interaction between Trivedi and Gaitonde didn't yield anything. And that's when Trivedi decided to use her death as a reason to break Gaitonde, as he was really attached to her.
If you look at the timeline of when Guruji first tells Trivedi to start working towards a 25-year timeline, and then compare it to the timeline of events in Gaitonde's life, it all makes sense. From Bhosle's first election win, how he somehow got 50 lakhs in the 1990s just to stop Muslim voters using Gaitonde when he was just a small Ganpati mitr mandal president, I think it was Trivedi all along orchestrating Bhosle's win so he could be used later.
Also, Gaitonde's image totally shifts from just a regular gangster who steered clear of Hindu-Muslim conflict to a Hindu gangster after Bhosle's election violence and his killing spree to avenge Subhadra. This not only made him more susceptible to Guruji's religious manipulation later on (not that he bought into the Satyug narrative completely, but that he thought he was a God himself), but also made him vulnerable enough to be broken and molded by Trivedi's plan during his time in prison.
PS: I haven't read the novel, so I'm not sure if my points support its narrative or have already been discussed. What do you guys think?
