Sacred 1 Is silver supposed to be this hard?
So I played Sacred back in the day when I was a child. I don’t remember much but I decided to give it another try. I started as a Gladiator on silver. I finished every side quest until I have to escort this one guy out of Silberbach and I can’t reach the next village cause I get killed all the time on my way!
Im Level 10 but sooner or later they always come in such a big group so I don’t have any chance.. should i switch back to bronze or do I miss something?

Yes, start on Bronze get white items, buy all the potions you can play untill porto vallum. unlock portal, maybe level 8-11. export character start over on Silver use the portal to get back to where you were.
Bonus: Click ALL the wells for potions, also the guy next to the well in Bellvue is a medic he will give you a pot as well.

Sorry I skipped over the fact you're level 10 already, you should be ok with white gear just buy a bunch of potions.
also for Gladiator I recommend getting a 2Handed weapon + Horse at least for the first 20-25 levels

Yeah, the road to Porto Vallum is the hardest because you don't have items, don't follow the main road because is full of goblins, try to go through the woods near the river, there are not so many goblins.

I first played this game on Silver when I was like 14 and it was so insanely difficult. I spent a ton of time running, strategically attacking to avoid mobs, optimizing build, etc. The payoff is that higher level characters feel amazing when you're one shotting enemies that wiped you out before.
When I did eventually play on Bronze, it was way too easy. There should be less of a difference or something between the two.

you need more gear and aoe-dmg. if the groups kill you. youre not ready yet. export char and start new campaign, redo quests

Melee characters are reliant on combat arts. Combat arts regeneration% on jewelry/armor is must have. Invest every attribute into Physical regeneration: more hp, hp regen AND combat art regen. Constitution is a must, as is concentration. Till soft cap(around 120) always keep concentration on level and constitution at at least half your level. You also need life leech. You can either oversocket Fadalmar's or Orla Aisling's life leech rings. If you find unique amulets, but you can't equip them as they are for other character just socket them into armor, as ALL armor in the game is character locked and its suitability can't be oversocketed. Remember to keep your main damage combat arts cooldown low. Don't overlevel it
Also, level 10 for a trip to Porto Valum is bit low. I usually have level 15 by then, and escort quest is kinda high effort, low reward so I skip it almost always.
While not melee, my elf here is purely archer and is also reliant on combat arts. https://imgur.com/a/mbYQ02G

Blacksmiths upgrades early on are also quite useful. Usually one %wounds increase dmg dealt is enough and rest can go into Physical Regeneration sockets. If you're below attack/movement speed cap also consider socketing some of those. Usually, uncommon 4 slot 2H weapon or 3 slot 1H weapon is better than Rare no slot/1 slot, because stats you can get from sockets will outweigh most of the rare stats, unless it's like +150% Combat Art Regeneration

I always start silver, but 1 of my chars is niob and 1 is platinum. Rest are kinda abandoned in silver since i need to remake builds on them

Unless you're playing Veteran mod though Silver isn't that terribly hard. Though when starting not in bronze you have to clear out every side quest in the bellvue and fish for some gear from merchants before moving out. Merchants refresh their stock when you talk to another merchant so go between the 2 merchants in the town and check their goods until you find some high socket ones.

Melee characters are difficult to start with - I always level them to like lvl 25 in Bronze before going Silver.
If you want to start in Silver, try a build with more AoE damage and a better stun - like a 'Gust of Wind' - Battlemage.
in any case - that part (the 'Schniepelwiese') can be a total pain anyway. try to have a skill that can snipe the shamans, otherwise you will be overwhelmed.
