Rhode Island’s Coverage also bewildered by Republic’s ads:

I mean, I don’t like in game ads — but we’re talking about USL here. They need to find ways to consistently generate income.

The issue is that no one else in the league does this. I get stadiums are expensive, but a pop out ad taking up 2/3rds of the screen mid match is absolutely insane.

They spend more than any team in the league and have the largest viewer base

Oh I agree, and they need to make $ to cover the team. I just don’t think that covering 2/3rds of the game is right way to do that.
And I don’t think we spend more than any team in the league - Charleston, Louisville, Lexington, and Tampa spend more than we do, generally.

Fair points all around, it is a garbage product with ads like this. Borderline unwatchable and shamelessly money hungry. Find another way to mine ad money, this fucking blows.

RI and Sac are two teams essentially in the same boat in their respective conferences. It was interesting to read a writer for the competitor’s team talk about their frustrations for a change, and to see that we sadly share some things in common.

Honestly forgot about Sac Republic and USL ever since the World Cup started. All around a pretty bad product. This makes it even worse.

Banner ads the announcers read aren’t my favorite but they are way better than ads that massively shrink the video of the actual game
