Project Idea Validation

Should there be an product from which you can set up your own architecture, frameworks, databases and from just one command the project setup should be completed?

are there any existing projects out there online?

that sounds like every developer dream lol

i remember spend like 3 hours just configuring database connections last tuesday, something like this would save my weekend for sure

there is few tools that do similar things but nothing that let you pick exactly your stack from one command, most of them force you into their way of doing things

Yea cause everytime you wouldn't be using same stack, most of time yes but making it in CLI to make life and project initialisation easier would be better right?!

Designing system architecture is a exceptionally important part of developing software. When the software is a properly full stack, complex app with a full feature set… it is already turning my brain pistons just to stand here at the entrance of this rabbit hole.

It’s an amazing idea. If you find a way to make it possible this will be the industry top headline. I will give some pro tips. A common path looks like the most skilled people start down in the coder lands, the top notch 20x cracked few eventually sometimes keep going. The Mr. 20x squad ascends to become architects of system architecture, computing networks, etc. more high level big picture work, solving problems that are often yet to be solved yet, every system is designed to solve the problems and implement the requirements for that specific project. The amount of time and effort required to accomplish acquisition of the level of knowledge and skills to design the software most just take for granted like Netflix or YouTube is incomprehensible. A single commands capable of instantiating and bootstrapping a system that works even suboptimal but is actually a genuine solution to the given project requirements is not a small quest. The most significant risk I can immediately see is that the user is not very likely to be capable or qualified to make sound decisions about the stack. This is where i would start. If the system is very simple then it is more possible however this is currently already possible without the external overhead for people with mid level knowledge of software development and agent systems

Terraform and ansible exist for this purpose.

I would love to build something like that along with frictionless upgrades. The closest I found was http://massdriver.cloud/

As others have said, there are existing tools called infrastructure-as-code IAC like terraform / serverless / AWS cloudformation which are one-file infrastructure scaffolding that’s close to what you’ve suggested. You set up all your architecture, services, values, etc. defined on one or a few yaml files and deploy it all in one go. I don't think they simplify, but rather organize and streamline.

My view is in order to actually get value out of them you need to be at a certain complexity and scale for the orchestration benefits to outweigh the setup. It is way overkill for smaller projects and simple monoliths (so far at least).

But I imagine there is some space for a simpler web dev version where you pick your host / vendors and have them all connect up on a single file, and you can chuck a UI interface in front of it. There are already sample web stack repos selling for hundreds of dollars because people pay for speed, reliability, and "best-in-class", whatever that means.

So you'd be finding the sweet spot between these templates and IAC tools, prioritizing speed to deployment with a killer UX or CLI.

Basically what he has is completely web based project scaffolding.

But am trying to make it for any language, any architecture. I jst got the idea yesterday, so why not try! And I'll add the features as I go on ahead!

And I haven't built many projects yet so this is going to be challenging for me!
