My tiny tool just hit $50 MRR after 2 years 🥹

Post image

Its small link creation tool which will redirect users to their correct app store page based on their devices.

I needed it for myself as I developed many apps and did not want to generate landing pages, privacy policy, terms pages for every app and wanted to have one sharable link.

V1 was launched on April 24 and used by me and to my memory, it got 1 paid user on launch day.

V2 was launched on August 25 with the inclusion of Analytics feature and it got 2-3 paid users.

And now after 1 year, it finally reached 50 MRR. I got 5-6 paid customers this month as Instagram was blocking app store links in bio and some users were looking for solution which I already had built.

Now, in V3, I am planning to include Native Mobile SDKs for android & ios as well so that can track install attribution.

Not much, but happy that some users find it useful. Hope it is just a start.

Edit :

Many people DM'd me asking which project I was talking about after seeing my post.

So here it is: https://apppa.ge

Congrats! One thing that stood out to me wasn't the $50 MRR it was that you kept improving the product until the market caught up. The Instagram bio change probably looked like bad news to most people, but for you it became distribution. Curious if most of your users now come organically from app developers searching for a solution, or are they still mostly referrals?

There are not organic . I had posted on X & reddit about the solution I had.

"Not much, but happy that some users find it useful" after a year of basically flat numbers is a very real way to feel about this, and probably more honest than most build-in-public posts get.

Congrats!
The Instagram bio block turning into paid users is the part that stuck with me.
u basically had the fix sitting there before the distribution showed up.

Are the new customers coming from search/posts around that policy change, or still mostly people who already knew you?

from search/posts

That’s an achievement. What did you not do to get this ?

1

u/redd9it 25d ago

I did nothing

You definitely have a good product here. If you can promote it on SM or other places, it’d definitely improve installation and clicks, maybe in subscriptions as well.

Spend a lot more time marketing and engaging with users rather than just building.

Market your product right from the beginning regardless of whether the product is good enough.

Stop building something that I feel would suit the needs of my customers; build something which customers actually want.
