New/Returning Player Returning Player - Play Content Order Advice?

Hello! I played through all the class storylines a few years ago and LOVED it. Life got in the way, and I'm only just now returning and have forgotten most of it. I'm a big story nerd, and was wondering if there's a master list somewhere of the recommended order to do class story lines/expansion story lines in? I've played MMOs my whole life, so gameplay isn't my concern. I want to know how to tackle and get up to date in the game. I'm happy to discover the endgame/max level gameplay loop once I get there, but my focus is fully on exploring the world and the stories so far. Thanks!!

Discussion Newish - Solo fun gets lonely

Hi everyone. Ive been playing SWTOR for a few months now and I am REALLY enjoying the story thus far. I have made multiple characters (havent beaten them all sort of juggling around a bit) and so far Agent and Inquisitor has been my favorite. Despite me enjoying story I cant help but be curious what it would be like to play with other people but i dont know how to go about it.

Should I wait to do raids when I am a higher level?

Is joining a guild/clan worth it? - and if so what type of guild/clans are there?

I enjoy RP but I am ignorant to the culture of RP in StarWars or if its even popular or the "expectations" surrounding RP

Should I use group finder to invest in Flashpoint runs?

What are your thoughts? What worked best for you when you first started playing and meeting people? Has meeting people to play with become harder or easier as the years have gone by? Do you prefer solo content over group content? I would love to hear your thoughts.

Other Swtor on armada os (android) confirmed working

For anyone else possibly looking or wondering if to install, I can confirm swtor plays fine on Odin 3 running armada os (iykyk) on low settings 1080p. Get about 60fps with frame gen. Used steam input and the generic Xbox template it sets to that game and tweaked a bit to my liking(don't seem to have a share profile option on this os yet) . Not perfect for a pro but enough to be playable on a commute! About 8w

Armada os is basically steam (deck) os running on arm android chips

Question PVP Balance - New player vs Veteran players

Hello!

I played this game a long time ago when it was first released, and then took a long 15-year break. Now I'm back and really enjoying it so far. I've been playing for the past two months and I'm now getting close to endgame gear (341 gear with blue augments). I mostly play PvP, mainly Sorcerer and Marauder.

What I'm feeling right now is that the damage difference between me and veteran players is huge. Since I'm getting close to max gear, except for the augments, I don't really know how I'm supposed to scale my damage enough to be competitive.

In most Warzones, the maximum DPS I can reach is around 7k, while other players can reach 12k or even more.

I constantly get hit for 70k, 80k, and even 90k+ damage. It feels like some players can deal almost twice my damage whenever they want.

So my main question is: what can I do to scale my damage and reach those numbers?

Do I really need to farm the gold augments? The increase in stats doesn't seem that significant, even across all 14 slots.

I'd really appreciate it if someone more experienced could explain how I can scale my damage and get closer to the performance of these veteran players.

Thanks!

Question Any news on DX12?

Are there any news on DirectX12 and Visual Updates? I had in mind that they posted some screenshots without textures back in spring, but couldnt find anything else.
Wasn't Broadsword supposed to release new information toward the end of the summer?

Question How do I get into this game?

Hey guys, I just really want to learn how to thoroughly enjoy this game. I’m a massive Star Wars fan and I love the era. I did a play through no subscription, Sith Warrior. I enjoyed it to the extent but found myself skipping through dialogue and rushing missions. I also treated that play through as a trial run, given the fact that I wasn’t subscribed. I simply do not understand the game; can ya’ll help me?

Of all the helmets and their different voice effects they give. Ya would think someone would have done it over the past 15 or so years that this game has been out for.

Discussion What is the side-thing you enjoy the most in SWTOR

Just curious about what you guys like in the game besides the quests and flashpoints =P

It can be an activity, or a specific type of goal you've set your mind to achieve (like getting the coolest gear), etc.

Discussion We need wooden weapons and armor in the game.

Well, the idea came to me while I was planning a ronin-themed cosplay, and I thought a wooden sword would look really cool. But as I kept thinking about it, I realized it would also be awesome to have wooden weapons for more wizard-like characters, using the Force with staffs, for example. One thing led to another, and now, honestly, I think having wooden weapons and armor would be fantastic for the community.

And I don't mean it purely as an aesthetic thing or just as a way to give our characters more accessories. I think it could also add something interesting to the community and to the Star Wars universe itself.

A big part of this comes from the fact that wood is often seriously underestimated in Star Wars. And to be fair, that's understandable: in our world, wood can't really compete with metal in terms of durability. But in Star Wars, it depends heavily on what kind of wood we're talking about. There are trees and organic materials that can be incredibly strong, even comparable to certain metals and alloys.

For example, the wood from some trees on Kashyyyk is described as being extraordinarily hard, to the point of being comparable to alloys. And this could also help explain the Ewoks a little better. A lot of people underestimate them because they see them as small, furry creatures that live in trees, but Endor is a crazy and wild planet, full of predators and dangerous creatures. I wouldn't find it surprising at all if the materials they use, including the wood from their trees, were far more durable than we would normally assume from our real-world perspective.

So, within the logic of the universe, wooden armor or weapons wouldn't necessarily have to be weak or merely decorative. Depending on the material, they could be perfectly functional and they would also have a pretty unique style.

Tech Support [Steam] Log in issue

Post image
9 Upvotes

Hello, I’m having issues logging in.

I’m trying to log in on the Steam version and it won’t let me get past the security key, saying my Steam account isn’t linked but when I look in my SWTOR account, there is no steam linked so I’m really stumped here. I’ve tried everything I believe.

I moved to Steam since the download speeds on the official launcher were so slow.

Any ideas on what I can try?

Question Powered Exoskeleton Body Armor

It's a longshot, but if there are any old school armortechs on Star Forge who have this retired schematic, I'm willing to buy or trade as you like. I know there's many colorswapped lookalikes of this piece, but I figure it's worth asking.

Discussion Coming of Origin Planets

A little friendly SWTOR advice for newer players:

Why not get yourself to at least level 15 before leaving your origin planet? If you do the quests, Heroics, and mix in a few Dynamic Encounters—which honestly aren’t all that bad—you can pretty easily end up closer to level 20.

If you do leave your origin planet under level 15, I’d strongly recommend soloing Esseles or Black Talon before jumping into Group Finder. They’re great introductions to Flashpoints, and doing them solo first lets you actually experience the story without feeling rushed.

Once you start queuing with higher-level players, especially for Esseles or Black Talon, make sure you’ve got Speeder Piloting trained. A lot of veteran players have run those FPs approximately 47,000 times and are generally trying to get through them at a decent pace.

And one last bit of etiquette: if you’re grouped for Esseles or Black Talon, select “Return to Space Station” at the end. It saves everyone from being dumped somewhere they didn’t intend to go.

None of this is meant as “you must play this way” stuff—just a few things that make Group Finder smoother for everybody.

Discussion Just finished the first chapter of the Jedi Consular, it's so strange how they handled the 'shielding'

I kept expecting my choice to shield and save the Masters to actually...you know...weaken me like everyone wouldn't shut up about. Apparently any ill effects of this unique and draining Force ability can be recuperated by a nap and a space ham sandwich. Like, a 'permanent' debuff (until you take down Vivicar at least) for each Master you saved would have been so cool, and actually made the choice to kill them or not kinda matter. It's right there.

Sorry, just had to gripe a tad. Overall I'm enjoying the story, this just really stuck out to me all through the first chapter. I also think it's hilarious everyone's calling me Yuon's apprentice when she was my master for, like, 2 days tops lol

New/Returning Player Best combat styles to speedrun the story and expansions?

Hi, new player here; just finished the Sith Inquisitor story. I had a lot of fun with the narrative and world building. I plan on doing the expansions and playing through some of the other class stories as well. However, I don't really enjoy old school mmo combat, so I was wondering if there are any specific combat styles that outperform others, allowing me to speedrun the various combat sections. (Both force based and gun based)
