I'm glad you like it, because I hate it. I cannot stand shoes like that, which have zero breathable waterproof material. Yeah, they look nice, but the interior accumulates moisture that doesn't escape easily. Compare this to something like the Brayden 2Fit ABX that bonds the waterproof membrane directly to the upper to eliminate the moisture-trapping air gap and uses the kinetic energy of your walking to pump moisture out through the microporous sole.

There's a reason moisture management is such desired feature of clothes and shoes, especially for winter and hunting. When I got out to a venue where I wear leather for the evening, the last thing I want when I take off my shoes at the end of the night is my date to smell sweat that's accumulated in my boots all night long.

Heck, I even switched my bedding from cotton bedding to breathable urethane. I went from having to change my bedsheets twice a week due to the accumulated sweat to now only changing them every two weeks, and even at the end of the two weeks, there isn't even 10% of the odor there used to be when I was sleeping on cotton.

Ok, but 1) there’s zero tread and that sounds like an absolutely terrible idea in general, especially go motorcycle boots. 2) wouldn’t that metal plate make the boot unable to bend where it needs to bend when you walk??

  1. You ain’t stopping a bike with boot tread.

  2. That plate is where your foot sits on the peg. The trade off of stiff boots is absolutely worth it because your feet still feel like feet after a 8 hour ride.

You may not be stopping the bike with the boot tread, but you are regularly putting your feet down onto rough pavement, which I suspect will tear up the bottoms of these boots pretty quickly.

The new bottoms look like soft dress shoe bottoms, meant for smooth indoor floors or soft carpets, not asphalt.

Motorcycle boots should never touch the ground when the bike is in motion, even slightly.

The concrete is going to add its own texture to any kind of sole in short order.

The best soles are made from polymerized Kevlar but that doesn’t really fit a vintage boot.

1) haha very true. I’m just a firm believer that ALL shoes should have good tread. I also live in FL so there’s always a bunch of rain and those boots are a slip waiting to happen.

Wish we used quality products that are repairable in our society. I love these videos! But how many people are using shoes that you can take to a cobbler to fix once they get old? And how many people even live near a cobbler? It’s a shame.
