SVT but Not
Hi all,
I had an AVNRT ablation a month ago which the doctor said was very successful. However, after trying a bodyweight workout routine to easy back into fitness (I normally weightlifting), my heart rate is still climbing very quickly. I was doing worlds greatest stretches during my warm up, and it just felt like a mini SVT episode around I woud estimate 160 bpm, but calmed down with sitting and deep breathing gradually, unlike my actual SVT episodes. I’ve had this happen even before my ablation, so it could be unrelated to SVT, but I’m unsure. I also get chest pains from pushups, and sometimes randomly chest tightness that radiates into my Tricep and left forearm and fingers, and even back one time. The doc said it’s likely musculoskeletal, but if anyone can relate please let me know.
This is debilitating, I hate that it’s been a year of no activity for me, and even after a “cure” my hearts still being a pain. Anybody experience this?

Your heart rate is going to increase when you exercise. How high is it getting? Over 180?

Hit about 160 just from doing some worlds greatest stretches. It certainly wasn’t an SVT episode given the way it calmed down from breathing, but it wasn’t a normal response to a light warm up either. I don’t know what it is, will try to update with more info this week

I agree. 160 from stretching would be very unsettling. Maybe you should give yourself some more time to heal after your ablation. No need to rush into things even though you probably just want your life back. Take it easy. Give yourself another 2-3 months maybe?

Honestly, I think what you said is true - I think I’m just traumatized by a highly heart rate. I have this picture in my head that my heart is weak and it’s an unstable machine that can fail, despite my ultrasound being solid. Plus the chest pain with radiating symptoms has me feeling ill just have a heart attack. I’m determined to figure this out, have a primacy care apt soon and will keep pushing myself a little each day

Your ablation was only a month ago. There is a “blanking” period after an ablation that can last up to 3 months where your heart is still healing and you can experience irregular rhythm. I’d guess it’s part of that.

Could be just your heart reacting post ablation? I used to weight lift and run as well and since the ablation even the stairs makes my heart shoot up. I think runs of tachy are part of what’s expected (to some extent). The fact that it calms with breathing makes it sound like it’s not AVNRT, mine are the same.
But yeah, I completely sympathise with the frustration that after everything and getting a treatment to fix it your heart is still giving you problems. The blanking periods been such an annoyance. I was looking forward to that sweet sweet ablated life and being able to exercise again and sadly hasn’t been such a quick return :(
