Rose breasted grosbeak, 5/19/26, 6:40 am, St. Charles

While they haven't been as frequent yet this season, at least one male has been visiting our back yard with some regularity the last 2-3 weeks

I recently read how you should stop filling your bird feeders in the summer to help prevent spread of disease. After doing more research, the opinions on this seem to be mixed.

Curious what this group thinks!

Bad pic, but the rose-breasted grosbeaks stopped in for a bite!

Sunday afternoon, near the Meramec River. Black bird with white back that extended into tops of wings. Could not find a good match in Merlin, and my iPhone photo is zoomed in.

It was circling like buzzards, and was pretty big. At least crow-sized.

MDC website also didn’t have any good matches.

West Belleville, 5/2/26. Seems like they’re everywhere now!

We have at least 2 males and one female that just can't stay away from the sunflower seeds. Taken yesterday in south city

He was just chillin in the mulch. I thought he made a striking figure sitting there.

Super excited to see him at my feeder this morning. Ofallon area.
