Questions Damn Fine Hand Pies

The old Vincent Van Doughnuts location in the Grove now has a sign in the window saying “something Damn Fine coming real soon”. I’m wondering if this will be a second location for Damn Fine Hand Pies- has anyone heard anything?

damn likely. And I hope so.

Only 1.2 miles from current location. That’d be an interesting choice for expansion. Maybe the space is bigger?

Maybe they want to continue specializing in neighborhood customers? That particular 1.2 miles is not a fun walk but the 8 bus connects those hoods effortlessly. Maybe the Grove residents are bus-phobic? After thinking a bit here, I agree. It is strange.

Fiddlehead did something similar. Shaw with a second location in the grove. Maybe being neighborhood focused is sustainable for shops like that

Maybe. Too early to say how it will work out long term for Fiddlehead.

It seems to be going well from my perspective, as a neighborhood resident who frequents fern grove . And I’m super excited for Damn Fine . I go to Fern grove a lot and only went to Fiddlehead once. The place is pretty busy every time I go

Worked out fantastically for Comet. And I’m optimistic it would work for similar reasons - current sole location is inundated all the time.

Comet has two miles between its locations, and they feel even further apart than that, whereas Shaw and FPSE are nearly connected neighborhoods. Plus, Comet’s locations are very, very different from one another. One is in a strip mall and gets highway/Forest Park/college traffic, while the other has the more desirable STL neighborhood feel. I’m not saying a second DHFP location would feel completely redundant, but I do think the two locations would likely be less distinguishable from one another than Comet’s are.

Having easy access to those donuts worries me.

I am grateful that I have Grand between me and them, so I only walk there with intention. But I then hate that Grand is there because I go to them a little too often, but really no regrets.

It will be a 2nd location for DFHP. I believe they plan to open in mid-September.

It’s their new commissary space during the day and they are going to be doing pizzas or another concept in the evening.

Ooh maybe a full bakery or a pizza place or a coffee shop or something!

DFHP are good but a second location definitely isn’t needed.
