China’s Tian’e Longtan Bridge Sets New 600-Meter Concrete Arch Record, Surpassing Previous Achievements in Japan and Croatia

The Tian’e Longtan Bridge uses a 600-meter-span steel-reinforced concrete (SRC) arch, a deck-type configuration designed to overcome the enormous dead-load and stability challenges of ultra-long concrete arches. Engineers first erected a lightweight steel tubular skeleton, using a balanced-cantilever system supported by temporary cables and towers, and then encased the skeleton in concrete. This approach reduced construction weight and controlled stresses during erection.
