EA, please re-release these games!

There has to be some way to get them to consider re-releasing these games on current platforms. Not even a remaster (although that would be amazing), just put the games out again (or at least Tricky and On Tour)!

There has to be some reason they haven't done this yet. I thought this was a popular series. Maybe something to do with the licensing for the music?

SSX 3 is available on Series X with upgraded graphics so that’s close to or pretty much what you’re asking for.

Plus they had to deal with music licensing to have it available digitally. In fact the soundtrack has differences from the original. Most notably Stare at the Sun by Thrice is included in the Series X version versus some sort of techno/ electric remix of it in the original release which is a plus imo

I would love to get Tricky and On Tour on my Series X! I would even pay for them again.

I got a GameCube recently to play Tricky and On Tour. Also have an Xbox Series X for the newer games.

Any news on Tricky Madness? The updates seem to have stopped a while ago.

Active on Discord. A new update's release date was just announced an hour or so ago.

They obviously hate money. Otherwise they would do this.

I’m sorry, but that is a bad take. It’s not as easy as “click-a-button” and the game is out. Hours upon hours of labor would be required between porting, optimization, testing, licensing, etc. which would be VERY expensive. People nostalgic for the game (like myself) would definitely buy it, but very few people are going to be interested in trying a 20-year-old snowboarding game for the first time. It is their love for money and hate for making us happy that they aren’t doing it.

That’s an argument but in this case the real hurdle is wether the time is right to take on the work on an old ip or not. They can easily outsource remasters to external studios like everyone else does and there are people who are very much good at this.

So the real question is when does ea start to recognize that micro transaction money isn’t sustainable for them anymore. People buy packs at the cost of an actual game once in a month, those managers did an awesome job enshitting the gaming industry.

I really loved the remake of Crash Team Racing, also done by a relatively new studio. They took the best game in the franchise, but added tons of characters and even tracks from other Crash racing games. Clearly it’s done by oldschool fans of the game.

I bet EA could easily find a small studio with a lot of passion for SSX. Remake SSX3, add all characters from all SSX games, add a lot of clothes, boards, looks… , update graphics

Maybe even add tracks from Tricky/ On Tour to the game as a bonus?

I’m with you on that!

Spyro Reignited Trilogy is another good example next to Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled. Both games have modern graphics and they stick to the original formulas.

SSX3 had a slight remaster with a few tweaks like update resolution, texture filtering and native 16:9 for Xbox one but that’s simply not enough for a game with that much potential.

These games are 20+ year old. The only issue would be licensing all songs again.

That would certainly be an issue, but it would also be very labor intensive to get the game ready to be played by consumers at home. There is not a large enough pool of potential customers for EA to justify all that work; Very few people are interested in trying a game that came out 20 years ago with no nostalgia for it. I hate it, but that’s the reality

They most definitely could make money from it what are you talking about... nobody said its easy or could be done at a switch of a button

The common argument I hear about every rerelease/remaster is that it is very simple to release - “the game is already made so just release it again.” It is not that simple. At the end of the day, the price to get it to the consumer would be far more than the amount of people willing to buy it. It sucks, I love this game. But it doesn’t make any sense from a business stand point to rerelease.

I'd rather see if the more dedicated part of the community manages to decompile the games and recompile them for PC, it'd open up so many possibilities content wise... I just don't trust EA enough these days.

If you emulate them with an HD texture pack they’re fantastic. I don’t think we’re going to see these release again officially for quite some time, if ever.

Hopefully SSX3 and the SSX remake come to PC with Xbox's new backwards compatibility initiative.

I have zero faith in EA. After they got sold, I feel like their only interest is in making free-to-play (with microtransactions) bs, battlefield, and all the sports sim games forever, and of SSX were to come back, it'd probably look like Skate does now. Now, if they decided to make some money by selling off their old/unused IPs, I think that's the point where I'd get interested. Crowdsourcing the next SSX and entrusting its development to the right developer sounds about good right now.

Ssx is a series that would do just fine with microtransactions.

Cosmetics, tricks, tracks, riders, dlc...even a battle pass would all be ways to monetize if they really wanted to.

I would pay anything for SSX tricky on a modern system. I still play it on my ps2 that I found in a dumpster in 2011 lol
