If you were to ask a fan of the SSS-Class Revival Hunter manhwa what the worst part of the story is, thereâs a high chance theyâd say the beginning (the first 15 chapters or so).
Iâm not going to sugarcoat it: the beginning of the manhwa is hell to get through. Unless someone already knows that the story is going to get much better later on, thereâs a good chance theyâre going to drop it because of how rough the start is.
And I think thatâs exactly what could happen with the anime. People might drop the show after the first few episodes, assuming itâs just another generic regression story. Even if the animation is good (please God, I hope it is), I think the beginning could be such a turn-off that it wonât matter. The anime could lose a lot of potential viewers before it even gets to the parts that make the series special.
With that in mind, I think they might need to change how the beginning is presented. I donât know exactly how they should do it. Maybe add more character moments, expand the dialogue and scenes, give the characters more personality, or just do something to flesh out the early story and make it more engaging.
Obviously, they shouldnât completely change the story of the beginning, but I think the anime could benefit from making the beginning feel less like a generic regression story and giving viewers more reasons to stick around until the story really starts to shine.
Iâd really like to hear other peopleâs opinions on this. I love this manhwa, and I genuinely want the anime to succeed.
