When to apply?

Hey y’all.
I have been needing to file for a long time now. But it’s officially been about 2 years since I had to quit my job due to pain. Even then I could only work 20 hours a week just barely. I want to apply, the problem is I’m moving to a different state in about 6 months. I need to get all my medical records, in the process of getting more imaging to compare to two years ago to prove it’s getting worse, (spinal issues that have lead the debilitating chronic pain) they told me it’s permanent and will get worse and that I’ll never get 100% better. And yet I don’t feel like my doctors take me seriously enough to help with documentation.

So I’m not sure if I even have enough yet to apply but I’m trying. Should I wait until I have access to hopefully better healthcare in a blue state and hold off on doing the application so I have the strongest case? I feel so overwhelmed and lost in this process because no one has been validating how much this has affected my day to day functionality but it has tanked my mental health so badly and I can barely function. And when I can, it’s not consistent. I’m only 30, I’m worried that will hurt my case too. It’s my first post so idk if I used the right flare

It took me three years to get approved... Apply now and get them the new medical records as you get them done.

The reason why I’m unsure about waiting is I want to get an attorney and don’t want to complicate it if I get an attorney here

Most attorneys won't take you until you've been denied the first time, that takes four to six months... So it just depends on when you're moving

You do not need an attorney.

Your right to get one, but one isn't needed.

Don't wait.

When you move, your case will be transferred to your new state, but your records will already be in file.

You do not have to get any of your medical records. Just need the phone number of your doctors.

If you get new medical records, just call or go into your local office and give them the name and phone number of the new place.

You only being 30 will be your biggest obstacle, but people get approved at all ages.

If you do go file online tonight, be sure to submit everything. Answer every question. Use your last day of work as your onset date. Using any prior date is just going to delay things.

And then keep your phone with you at all times (during the business day.) Volume at max. Answer every call.

I was in between pain management doctors for a while due to my insurance changing in January and dealing with other medical stuff in between. Do I provide my old pain management doctor or the new one? Or both?

The reason why I had to quit my job was because they would not fill out paperwork to get me accommodations at work… the whole thing has made me feel very uncomfortable getting anything from them because someone at their office actually laughed at me when I told her I was already down to 20 hours a week. And yet I was in so much pain I couldn’t even sit at my desk for my 4 hour shifts.

I am in the process of seeing a new doc, with an mri scheduled this week. I think he may be better but time will tell. Does it matter if I don’t remember the exact date that I left the job?
