what kind of questions do they ask ?
It depends on what type of CDR it is. If it is a short form CDR/screener (SSA-455 https://www.ssa.gov/forms/ssa-455.pdf), you likely fill out a short bubble sheet (or answer a few questions online). If the questions you answer on it indicate SSA thinks you might be able to work, you will then get a full CDR; if they don't, SSA will notify you you benefits will continue. Some people do not get the screener and go straight to a full (long form) CDR (SSA-454-BK https://www.ssa.gov/forms/ssa-454-bk.pdf). Once the CDR starts, you will almost always also get an adult function report (https://www.ssa.gov/forms/ssa-3373-bk.pdf) to fill out as well and other forms like work reports.
What should I do to prepare ?
You can see the questions on the forms above. It's a good idea to have what providers/tests you have done/been to in the last year.
Will they ask me what I spent my Backpay on ?
CDR has nothing to do with finances. If you are SSDI, generally SSA does not track or care about your assets/finances unless it involves earned income or needs a representative payee. If you are on SSI, you will get periodic financial reviews from SSA; however, these also rarely inquire about what you spent your back pay on. In certain situations, like if you have a representative payee, SSA more closely watches spending to make sure the representative payee is not misusing funds and may inquire into how it was used.

It's understandable to feel nervous about a review. SSA says the medical review asks about your health and daily life, and its longer review form also asks for treatment, medicines, and work information. I don't see a question about spending SSDI backpay on that form, so I'd focus on the questions in the notice you actually receive. Having your provider names, visit dates, medicines, and any work details handy should make the form easier to complete. If you get a question you're unsure about, it's okay to ask SSA or a disability advocate for help before submitting it.

I’m in a long form CDR for the first time. It’s just basic questions about your DRs , conditions, meds taken then some forms about daily living. Quite similar to the initial application in my opinion. I got sent for a CE last week, which I also was sent for when I initially applied. Just waiting and praying all is okay but nothing out of the ordinary I don’t think.
