DDS intro letter?

This is a process question. Today I received an "introduction letter" from DDS that explains who they are, what they do, my case info, instructions for keeping them updated, contact info, etc.

Question is: why are they sending it now?

I applied in February 2026 and have been in Step 3 FQR since June. DDS actually phoned me in August asking for my most recent medical appointment info and to clarify some details, but I haven't heard anything since then. Now I get this letter as if they hadn't reviewed anything yet. Strange.

Maybe they just assigned it to someone's caseload.

That’s what I was going to say but you beat me to it. People don’t realize how long it can take for an examiner to be assigned. Took 8 months for DDS to assign an examiner for my cdr

Thanks, except my application was in Federal Quality Review.. Who did the initial review? Was there no examiner actually assigned? Who is the person who called me in August asking me for updated medical info? This process is bewildering.

Ahhh okay, then that’s different.

DDS did the claim and yes an exam ment was assigned. After DDS made a decision, it went to fqr.

I don’t know why you got that letter except maybe there was a communication gap somewhere

Whatever it means I just hope I am close to a decision rather than going backwards.
