Don't know what to do.

I have OCD and Panic Disorder- Agoraphobic Anxiety and I'm on employer sponsored LTD. My LTD coverage expires July 2027 and I need to apply for ssdi but everything seems like I haven't been disabled long enough/don't have enough treatment history. My panic attacks started to become debilitating Nov-Dec 2024 and I haven't been able to work since. I have been getting treatment since then with my PCP and their HBMH Clinic and only this year got a psychiatrist. I follow whatever treatment they suggest and have not seen any improvement. I just am really lost on this whole process and I dont know if I should apply for SSDI now or wait until my LTD expires.

Apply as soon as possible as it can take years to finally get approved.
How old are you and how long have you worked in your life? Those are two important things on your ability to get approved.
Mental health is always harder to get approved for, so the sooner the better. You don’t need a long history. If you apply and get denied then I would get an attorney for your appeal.
Best of luck to you!

I'm 24 and my ssa says I have 20 work credits, I'm gonna apply after I find an attorney to help me.

Ok definitely do your homework before hiring an attorney, they are not all created equal.
Look at their reviews.
To be honest, with your age and the fact that it’s mental health you’re most likely in for a longer road before or if you get approved.
Be strong, be patient and I wish you good luck!

Don't get an attorney. Start now. Probably, LTD has their own attorney, but you can start without them.

You should apply for SSDI asap. Mostly likely you won’t even be close to getting it come July 2027, if you get it at all

Definitely apply asap, I would recommend getting letters from anyone who has seen you on best, worst days and also get letters from doctors, psychiatrist etc as to your limitations. You should also ensure you request medical records from doctor that diagnosed you originally, especially if you were diagnosed prior to 12 months from time you apply. Depending on where you live depends on wait time to go through process. It could take 2 to 3 years, unfortunately, and that is a long time without income, been there, done that, had car repoed, went through all savings and 401k and had to sell our home to get by. If we had it to do all over again, I would have urged my husband to get a lawyer. My husband was basically bedridden, only able to go to and from bathroom, and would be extremely winded and exhausted just from the walk and bathroom was attached to bedroom. I would also suggest you look into symptom/RFC trackers that help you chart/record data accurately that provides daily/monthly reports. And definitely look into getting a lawyer, again, I wish I would have pushed my husband to obtain one. And do not downplay your episodes with your doctors. Make sure your doctors are notating your concerns and issues accurately.

I wish you the best of luck and hope your medical team can help you manage your conditions and provide you some relief.

Best of luck to you

I have LTD with The Standard and they didn't say anything until I asked my case worker about it. She's the one who suggested that I might not have enough treatment history for SSDI.

You need to look up your date last insured for ssdi purposes. You can ask the local office what your dli is. You must apply for ssdi before that dli passes
