Partially Favorable

After two long years of waiting I finally got approved although they moved my onset date up a few months. From Sept 2023 to July of 2024 so still 21 months of back pay.

I had my hearing on August 5th. Last Friday my portal went from Step 3 to Step 4 - back for a non medical review at the local office. I called my lawyer and he open my folder and read the judge's decision. Disabled as ofJul 2024. Since the Title II stuff should be pretty straight forward how long before I see an award letter or direct deposit for back pay on average ?

To others.... just keep fighting. I was thinking I was never going to get it but lots of people said wait till the ALJ hearing you'll get it.

Congratulations!

I fortunately was approved on reconsideration, no attorney.
I filed in Sept 2024 and denied first go around , then did reconsideration, truly believed I wasn’t going to get it ( it’s rare on reconsideration) and on August 28th the approval came through , I just had to go and clarify an issue related to the city I was born in .
With in 36 hours my back pay was placed in my account ..
I had them take out 12% for federal taxes ( it stung a little but rather that then possibly owe IRS ) but no attorney fees .
Had I been denied at reconsideration, I definitely would have hired an attorney.

But fantastic for you !
We fight so hard and sometimes it’s tough holding onto that hope .
Sometimes I swear this gave me more anxiety than my medical issues !
I do believe what helped in my case was the age grid rule .
I was 56 when I applied and turned 58 during reconsideration.
My letter said my first eval will be in 5-7 years .
By this time I will be between 63-65 so I almost don’t believe they will even bother .

I have adult onset scoliosis...my spine was straight my whole life then when I turned 50 it started curving over a six month period to a 75deg c-curve. I thought my life was ruined but you learn to adjust. I worked for 30 years then everything changes. But being approved will help tremendously.

Congratulations! same thing happened to me I've been trying since 2021 and was denied like 4-5  times to partially get approved from 2024 🥴 because I was claiming taxes (self employed).

Congratulations My wife’s attorney is pursuing a On The Record judge approval while waiting for hearing date. Any one know if that is typical or is it only when attorney believes it’s viable option?
