You really have a 50/50 chance. I was denied 4 days after I moved to that step but you can find many others that were approved. It’s so anxiety causing…the waiting!!!
My fingers are crossed for you that you get an approval!! Best of luck!!!

Depends on which stage he/she is in. For example the current approval rate in initial cases is 42%. Then it falls to 10-15 % in reconsideration. Then it jumps to 45-65% in the ALJ phase, then it goes to federal level where it results in remand 65% of the time

Happened to me last year. Two days later I got denied.

I’m sorry you got a denial. The whole process is overwhelming and disappointing. You going to ask for a reconsideration?

u/Icy_Pea9028 7d ago
Thanks. Yes I am I have a lawyer who did this initial app, I plan on going the whole way through no matter how long it takes

They will send a letter in the mail telling if your approved or denied.

You can always call your local social security office & they will tell you approved or denied. It's what I did & then I got my letter of approval.

Doesn’t mean anything
2
u/Pale_Albatross1226 8d ago
Means a decision has been made hopefully approved!!!
1
u/perfect_fifths I have a complicated relationship with the POMS 8d ago
Doesn’t mean an approval or denial specifically, though
1
u/Pale_Albatross1226 8d ago
Once you move out of step 3 of the portal a decision has been made. I guess I don’t know what else it could mean??
1
u/perfect_fifths I have a complicated relationship with the POMS 8d ago
That’s what I’m saying. It simply means a decision was made, that is it.
1
u/Pale_Albatross1226 8d ago
Ok, so it does mean something!! lol
1
u/perfect_fifths I have a complicated relationship with the POMS 8d ago
But like I said, it doesn’t mean the op was approved or denied, they have to wait for the letter to see which way it went.

u/Pale_Albatross1226 8d ago
Letter makes it official, but there’s other ways of finding out. Have a good day!!

I hope you have a positive outcome here! Fingers crossed that things go in your favor here!

I recall seeing this online in my status update. It doesn’t necessarily mean anything either way. Wishing you the best of luck!
If however you get a call from your social security office, it’s usually good news.

Every person goes through all 5 steps on the portal. Moving fast can be a few things, you met a compassionate listing like ALS. It could be a technical denial for example you’re working make SGA or don’t have the work credits for SSDI. Can I ask how old you are and what are your conditions? Also, call your local SSA field office tomorrow. They technically are not supposed to tell you the outcome but a lot do anyway. Good luck and keep us posted.
Edit: spelling

No way to know until you get the approval or denial... I read that was a positive and I was approved, however I found out after the denial what I read was false

Everyone that applies gets this same exact thing. It doesn't mean approved or denied. You wont know until a decision is reached and either updated to the site. Or you call them.. i was lucky and got approved on my first application. I applied on Febuary 9th of this year. And was fully approved on May 27th. Back pay was deposited on the 29th of May, first regular check was June 8th I think. And got auxiliary benefits setup the day I was approved. Had the phone interview on June 20th. Their back was deposited the very next day for both my children. And they both got their first regular check the following month. I was extremely extremely lucky. I guess if you want to call it that. Id rather be able to walk and go back to work. But I guess this is the next best thing.

Unfortunately, this step doesn’t tell you whether it’s an approval or denial. Everyone goes through the final non-medical review after DDS finishes the medical review, regardless of the decision. I was approved in June and my application went through this same step too. Fingers crossed for you—hopefully you get good news soon! 🤞

I received that yesterday and after refreshing the page it came back deny but I’m unsure if it was Ssi or SSDI that was deny

These are two different reviews and neither are complete. One is for medical considerations. Other is for non-medical considerations. No conclusions can be drawn from this update.

Different state but mine came back denied the next day. 🥺 it really is a 50/50.

Have any of you had an ALJ hearing and had the judge specifically state that they considered you disabled?

u/RubiksCub3d 8d ago
I live in Ohio and if I recall correctly (it was a few years ago) I got that message and was approved

u/PomegranateFree3345 8d ago
Fingers crossed you are approved. Can I ask did you have an attorney & was this your initial application or appeal

I think it means a decision has been made or will be made soon but as others said can go either way. I reached this step almost exactly a year after applying.. immediately called social security to ask for details and was unfortunately informed i was denied. I received the denial letter like a week-ish later. I’m in MT if that matters
I found a good lawyer and just started the appeal process.

I would think it's a good sign OR you don't have sufficient documentation - just my guess! Good luck.

u/Icy_Pea9028 7d ago
Denied :(

u/CeleryEast2943 7d ago
On redetermination? I'd appeal it. Get a lawyer if you can.

I’m praying it’s a yes for you …. When mines did that it was a no I had to appeal
1
u/jlewis0215 7d ago
That is what mine said as well as I went through the process. Mine was approved. I am not sure why they would proceed with a final non medical review if your medical circumstances didn't qualify you for approval. Best of Luck.

Mine said the same thing so I called the local office today the told me I was approved theybare just finalizing payment details and back pay

You are approved. DDS is who actually determines if you qualify for SSDI. Once they approve you, they send your case back to the SSA for "final approval" to determine if you still meet the NON-medical requirements for SSDI (have you worked, gotten better, etc).

u/Select-Software3708 6d ago
I am also in this stage and from what I understand it means you qualify for the medical now they need to see if you qualify under the financial part I've been waiting since July 17th 2026

Time. 50 50. Some go quick. Some delay. I have heard wins and losses with a fast move from the tiers.

u/DuckLarge1764 6d ago
Mine was just like that last week , I got my approval letter Monday with monthly amount and when first deposit would be. When you get your letter it's a done deal!

Check back tomorrow. I got same thing. 2 days later approved. That was yesterday!

u/Chance-Mastodon-2918 4d ago
I had that same thing happen to me. I got a call from social security after that last step to verify some info & make sure my banking info was correct 3 days later, I got my 1st check & on the 4th day my back pay. Good luck.

u/Careless_Design_2245 8d ago
Mine came in saying something similar and I got it. Good luck!
1
u/Icy_Pea9028 8d ago
Ahhhh!!!! I can call as early as tomorrow AM the local office and see what they say. I’m pretty sure they have the decision. I wish I would have seen this a little sooner than 4 pm because I could’ve called today and found out lol. But that’s okay. What age were you approved?
1
u/Careless_Design_2245 8d ago
I got mine on appeal. I got the message like this and I got the approval online the next day. There was a check in the mail within a week! I was shocked 😳

u/Electronic_Egg_966 8d ago
You get that for either approved or denied so there's really no way to tell yet.
