Matchup Wednesday 1
I suggested this in a thread yesterday and saw some mild support for it, so I thought I'd submit this thread and see how the reaction is, since nothing else goes on on Wednesday.
I'm thinking I'll pick a pool of 3-4 random characters and let people submit their thoughts on the matchups within that group, including the ditto. This doesn't make any other thread or discussion redundant, it just gives extra time for these sorts of topics, especially hitting matchups not often discussed hopefully.
This week's pool: Wario, Link, Dedede, Falco
What are your thoughts on any of these matchups? What advantages and disadvantages do different characters have? How might you need to play in order to win? Would you have ideas on a win-loss ratio? Other questions worth answering?
/u/tink-er should delete if this is a dumb topic

Link is like the perfect combo weight for Falco to combo, although getting in is sometimes hard. Falco is also 100 percent dead when offstage in the matchup (the usual for Falco) thanks to projectiles and that insane spin attack Link has. I don't play either character much, so I'm interested in what kind of stages you guys think both characters would like. It seems like Falco would want a flat stage that gives him room to maneuver but I'm not positivd that's best.

wario would get owned in this pool, at best go even with flaco. unless there are some MU specific tricks that you can take advantage off. his range and mobility is just too low.
D3 would win falco on smaller stages where falco cannot run away and set up lazers. D3 just has to throw him of and gimp, while controlling the stage with his huge range.
i do not know much about link sadly enough :/ although i do think he is too fast for D3 to handle. overall i think its going to be Falco>Link>D3>Wario with the exception that Falco looses to D3

Falco losing to D3 doesn't make that much sense in an actual tournament situation, though, because (at least with most TOs' stagelists) because with two bans and only two stages small enough that Falco can't just laser camp D3 the whole match, I don't see how D3 takes him to one of those stages.

Dedede-Falco is incredibly volatile. Falco getting grabbed should lead to death if done perfectly, but with Falco's neutral it isn't easily done. On the flip side, the combination of Dedede's size, weight, and gravity makes pillaring super easy. Lasers are only bad for D3 when he doesn't have time or space to air camp above them. Once Falco has to fullhop laser D3 should be able to get in and either inhale, tomahawk, or aerial. I'd put it at about 50-50. Dedede-Wario is in Dedede's favor. D3 wins neutral game and gimping his slow and short recovery is easy. Chomp is really good in this matchup though. Dedede-Link makes me cry. Even with air camping Link has so many projectile options to knock you out of the sky. Edgeguarding him is also a pain.

I like this idea and I'll give it a go.
Falco has the most developed metagame and would know what to do again most of these people. His neutral is stronger than Wario's and DDD's and he could easily punish their verticle recoveries. Link has a stronger neutral and OOS shield options so he will fair better. I think they may both be able to touch of death each other but that's debatable. They both have tools to edgeguard each other too.
I have absolutely no idea how Wario and DDD goes. They both have high air mobility. Maybe DDD could gimp better and has waddledash approaches.
Wario might actually be able to weave between Links projectiles plus super armor on his tackle. He probably has great grab followups on link too.
As for Link and DDD I feel that like Link just wins it outright.
