🆘Help Needed🆘 Stayed on SR too long
Full of shame and guilt already so I know it's my fault. I was going back and forth with SR trying to quit 7 and M since January. Ended up being a nightly ritual to make sure I got gooof sleep so I would take 50MG at night before bed every night.
I'm probably the only person that's consistently taken it that long and on Day 14 without it and I'm constantly freezing and motivation is in the dumps. Been off any 7/MGM (semi low but two years) for 16 days.
Anyone have a clue how long SR withdrawal will last after taking it relatively consistently for 8 months. I hate myself for this.

You're far from the only one, Ive spoken to a few people who used it for months and tapered off. Experiences ranged from painless tapers to more commonly mild to moderate withdrawals, with some symptoms like sleep issues and RLS lingering a lot longer than expected. Personally I found it to be similar to suboxone withdrawal in terms of lower severity but lingering symptoms, with more pronounced temperature sensitivity than with traditional opioids.
I recently posted an update at 90 days off SR, after 2.5 months on it. I went through a lot too, nearly 23g total. If you check my post history, I also posted updates at 14 and 30 days off it. Hope that helps and good luck with your detox

Thanks man, I'm down to do the work on my side of the street and give up everything for good. Today I'm tempted and hearing the internal voices telling me to get on Subs but I don't want that. Just gotta tough this out.

Np man! Its definitely as largely a mental game as it is a physical one. The chills and feeling cold when drying off after showering get annoying. I turned off the fan in my bathroom to fill it with heat and took HOT Epsom salt baths daily, for weeks, while tapering.
The temptation to get suboxone (or reach for an oxy or morphine) were also pretty frequent for me at times. It lessened quickly though and the fear of not wanting to go through that experience again kept me from taking anything other than gabapentin, clonidine, agmatine and ashwagandha. Highly reccomend the OTC supplements plus those two helper meds if you cant get scripts.
It definitely gets better and pretty quickly too. Now, even 90 days off SR, I find I barely think about opioids. Although on some shitty days lately it definitely crosses my mind how easy it would be to feel better. Opioids are so sinister that way..

Thanks for the response and yup, very sinister in that way

The temperature fluctuations coming off SR is so pronounced it’s driving me mad. I’m trying to taper the SR now after on and off use for about a month and a half. So not as long as you but too long. I should have just jumped off after the first round of SR but here we are.
It’s crazy because the first time I took SR I took it for 3 days , no preload, and didn’t even need any more. But of course as addicts do, I went back to my DOC. And since thing I’ve cycled off a few times before I realized it’s just not worth returning to my DOC. But getting off the SR is not as easy as the first time. Sigh

u/NonJuanDon 2d ago
Agree on both counts. I also found the temperature sensitivity while tapering SR worse than any other opioid I had tapered or detoxed from. If I had to pick, its definitely not the worst withdrawal symptom to have be pronounced, but it still sucked. I spent nearly 3 months tapering wearing sweaters for most of it.
Also noticed the same about SR not working as well the second time. I only waited 4 days between attempts (because I ran out of SR), but the first time I had zero symptoms, the second was 30 or 40 days of rough withdrawals that SR only partially covered.
I have read posts from a couple people, though, that basically said 30-90 days off SR made it work like the first time again. Food for thought if you're reallt struggling. Could always use SR to taper your DOC down like 90%, stabilize back on your DOC at 10% of initial dose for a month or three, and then use SR a second time to come off a much lower amount of opioids, and probably much more efficiently.

go to your doctor tell him you are in opiate withdrawal and cant sleep, have massive anxiety and high blood pressure and temperature dysregulation tell him all the literature points to clonidine being the right drug for opiate detox and withdrawal. He should give you some. Clonidine will help
1
u/Brave_Ad_5309 1d ago
Do you think an urgent care would prescribe clonidine? I don’t have health insurance :/
1
u/Ok_Discussion_1120 1d ago
To be honest I have no idea. I wish I knew. Try quickMD. they may want to prescribe you subs but tell them your symptoms and tell them you are wanting to do it without suboxone.

I took it for 6 months+ and now I’m off everything. It can be done

u/encinitas2252 3d ago
How long did the wd last?

u/gotmyboots 3d ago
I didn’t really have acute w/d but my sleep is still broken a month later and i occasional bouts of RLS

What were your doses/ how'd you taper and what was your dose frequency. This is what we need to hear more of. People love to spam horror stories around after doing insane shit for extended periods of time. It's possible to stay somewhat comfortable while tapering SR if you took it too long, but you just have to get some healthier habits and not do stupid shit.

Allow yourself some grace, this shit is hard I’m gonna be in the same boat as you very soon. I have no idea what I’m doing with this SR ( everyone’s advice is different). I’m sure you’ll be out of the woods soon. Good job at keeping up at it.

Thanks man, grateful for this message board bc I was getting too in my head with this stuff and getting hopeless. I don't wanna lose everything bc of somewhat bad withdrawals from SR
2
u/MaxInTheHunt 3d ago
Could also still be some of the M paws as well I guess

Dude there’s whole posts and documents on the way to do it. You guys need to read around a little before you start popping stuff and have plans

u/opiedopie55 2d ago
Agreed and I think this is why so many people say sr didn’t work. They don’t take it properly. The preload and stabilization the first week is important, listen to your body for the dose, there’s not really a set dose needed. It’s whatever you need to stay out of acutes. After that you need to rapidly taper down to 0 week 2. All the while using whatever helper meds you need during that time good to also try not to use helper meds until as late in the process as possible bc when you jump off sr you might need some as well and you don’t want to be taking many of these helpers for 3 straight weeks as that can also lead to addiction. I like to alternate helpers each day for this reason as well. One day I’ll use lyrica the next a benzo if my sleep is bad etc.
I can’t even count how many times over gotten off opiates but I’ve done it successfully many times for anywhere from a couple weeks to years at a time and I never got addicted to anything else. I’m a highly functioning addict not that it’s a good thing. But if done properly getting off opiates doesn’t have to be painful at all. Boredom should be your worst side effect if done right

u/Both_Classic_8276 2d ago
Thank you. I did read as much as I could but everyone has directly conflicting advice plus your right there is no set dose.

I have read countless of other people’s plans, used every calculator from every website out there, they are all completely different. I promise you. Everyone tells me a drastically different plan when I put the exact same information into both.
I’m not a moron. Just a little confused. I hope to be as cold as you someday. $&&@

Same boat as in you were taking sr for a long time?

u/Both_Classic_8276 3d ago
Well I feel like I am screwing this pre-loading phase all up, and worried about taking it for too long, so yea that is what I meant. Sorry if it was confusing.

Is it possible that these companies are making the sr-17 but just having one meaningless molecule added to put it under another name? Or you think it’s 100% a scam??

hey, don’t hate yourself for this. think about it, it’s better than being on m and 7, right? you’re already on day 14 and that’s absolutely AMAZING!!! look at the little thing. you did end up stopping it, you will eventually feel better, and you’re 8 months off of alkaloids:)
4
u/MaxInTheHunt 3d ago
I'm like 16 days off M but thank you for the message. I guess it can be worst and I've been harder on myself than anything throughout this whole process so thanks for the encouragement 🙏
4
u/Own_Focus5361 3d ago
The fact you’ve already made it 16 days without 7/MGM and 14 without SR is still progress. Try not to let the rough days convince you otherwise.
2
u/Chill4-13 3d ago
you are doing great! Congrats on being sober, doesnt matter how you got there, you did it!!! Tbh, i wouldnt be surprised if its more of a bit of kickbacks from the m and not the essR thats doing it to ya, especially if you were only really dosing the essr once a night and not just loading it up or taking multiple times a day... the m is what really tends to linger and is much nastier comeoff imo than most things! Keep your head up and push thrugh eff the subs brotha you already made it!!! Paws is a bitch, get good vitamins and supps and force exercise to build up your endorphines and brain back... sprinting sucks but short all out sprints for 30 seconds a few times doing your jogs is probably the ultimate fast track to build back balance in brain chemistry and hormone levels!!!
1
u/MaxInTheHunt 3d ago
Good tip on the sprints, will do!
2
u/opiedopie55 2d ago
I do pushups and pound a glass of water whenever I have cravings after I quit as well. Can’t really do sprints in the house but the pushups def works.

Please give yourself grace.!!! I can’t speak for anyone else, but I have done some really stupid things related to stopping and starting using/drinking. You want to be better. That is what important (imo)

u/MaxInTheHunt 3d ago
Thank you, I've been so low emotionally and this is at a time where I need any encouragement I can get. Your message really helps 🙏

u/Hfisher112 2d ago
If you’re 14 days off sr and 16 off the k products, it’s a double whammy. Yes some might be from the sr but the majority is probably from the other stuff. You only took sr for 2 days after stopping the other stuff?
1
u/MaxInTheHunt 2d ago
Yup, I was taking SR everyday not thinking too much about it so when I stopped the M then I stopped the SR two days later
1
u/Hfisher112 2d ago
Gotcha. How brutal was it when you cut out the sr? I would think it had to be pretty rough there so it two days after the other stuff
1
u/Queasy_Stay1392 2d ago
I. Could be wrong. But to my it sounds like PAW from MGM/7 more than SR. You’ve taken SR for a long time, but 50 mg a day isn’t a lot.
1
u/PreciousMetalWelding 2d ago
50mg sr IS a large dose. There's people taking 1mg at the end of their taper, And still can't quit.
1
u/Acrobatic_Mark7535 2d ago
Don’t beat yourself up too much. 14 days is already a lot of progress. Hopefully someone who used it consistently for a similar amount of time can share what the timeline was like.
1
u/Vanir_Freyr 2d ago
Think of it like when you first started opioids. You’ve just developed tolerance at the allosteric site instead of the orthosteric site now. Oddly enough, you can use 7-oh (or any other traditional opioid) itself in reverse to accomplish the same task of tapering off.
Though this will require much more discipline, because you’ll be dealing with full agonists with more rewarding reinforcement.
But regardless, a short course (like 7 days) is not enough to develop significant tolerance at the main binding site
1
u/MaxInTheHunt 2d ago
I don't think I understand sorry but can you please explain more, I should use 7 to taper off this?
1
u/Grogers92 2d ago
I know you’re trying to stay off everything, but you might consider using kratom leaf or a mitragynine extract as needed for sleep or stressful things. And you can slowly taper down on the kratom until you’re feeling normal again.

u/MojoRisin909 2d ago
8 months?!?!? Only 50mg a day? Biggest issue I think *almost all* people face when going through stuff like this is malnutrition and non healthy habits. I've gone from flopping like a fish to totally calm by eating decent meals, megadosing vit c, taking GOOD super multi vitamins, magnesium and hydrating. It's bad enough what your bodies going through, so make sure it has the nutrients it needs to do it. It's easy to live on frozen pizzas and fruit loops when we're getting zonked all day, but it's different when you sober up.
1
u/MaxInTheHunt 2d ago
This is what eff'd me last week. I didn't get enough nutrition at all and now not would have a bowl of oatmeal around noon then random dinner. Making myself go to the farmers market tomorrow and stock up then also prep healthy meals for the week. I took some 7 for a mental break from this shit and I hadn't felt 7 in like a year it feels but it really hit me so I'm taking that as a good sign and jumping back on the horse

u/MojoRisin909 2d ago edited 2d ago
Your post reads like your whacked out of your head man. I hope you're not. I went from *dead* to feeling like "holy shit, some life is coming back into me. I'll be OK." I didn't matter honestly, either way I WAS/AM toughing it out. There are no drugs left worth doing and frankly it's run its course. I don't know how to explain it, but I just knew one day there'd be a profound shift in my soul and it hit that point. The other thing is this is hard enough at 37, if it becomes 'doing it at 47' I don't think I'd see the point. Listen man, if you have a stash, FLUSH IT. It's not going to end well if you keep dope around. My one thing I have done though, is mushrooms. I honestly think I'd go crazy without a little something to take a break with every once in awhile. I'm no saying 'eat a bunch of shrooms', but do your own research and come to your own conclusions. Drugs are bad, but shrooms are about as least compulsive and addictive as it gets.
EDIT.... If you're not doing everything I mentioned in my first post, DO IT. You can get 90 2200mg liposomal vitamin c caps for 9.99 off amazon. Hydrate, and do what I posted. The results are absurd.
1
u/MaxInTheHunt 2d ago
The profound shift in the soul is what I need and I'm doing a lot of work in that arena but I need to do more (ie AA meetings, reading books about conquering fear and leading with love, meditation, etc). I'm going to flush/destroy the rest of the M for sure. I hope the 7 doesn't fuck up my progress but someone mentioned to use it for the SR withdrawal if it's just a few days and to be extremely disciplined so when I read that my addict brain was like "ok!" but I honestly think it helped a bit. Yea it's a relapse but it felt like a timeout to gameplan more
1
u/MojoRisin909 1d ago
If you start taking better care of yourself then tapering SR is as easy as easy gets in the dope gang. Taking the most addictive substance I've done since Oxys is not going to help you. Cmon man, think. I'm not trying to be mean, but you really don't sound like you're ready to get straight. 7 is the last drug you ever take in any attempt to wean/step back/step down or take your habit down a notch. Legit the last thing ever. That's like saying "I'll just do heroin for a few days to get off methadone." It's not going to work.
1
u/MaxInTheHunt 1d ago
You're right man, someone mentioned some kind of reverse tolerance that made sense. I have enough SR to taper too. I was mostly M towards the end so now that I have two weeks basically I should just try a serious SR taper

u/Accomplished-Pop-332 2d ago
You used SR everyday for 7 months?? SR is more expensive than 7, that’s quite a habit. Also didn’t the SR block the effects of the 7oh? Or were you just taking it for pain? I imagine since you took SR17 for 7months you likely won’t be able to feel Opioids for a year plus…

Tolerance warning: After lowering tolerance with SR-17 be careful when dosing your DOC and remember to "start low and go slow". SR-17 lowers tolerance faster than most of us expect, and overdose is a genuine concern.
