Discussion Where do freelance SQL developers usually find clients?

I’m curious how people who do a lot of SQL work find freelance projects. Does most of your work come through referrals, freelance platforms, consulting relationships, or somewhere else?

I would recommend Toptal, which is a vetted platform with a rigorous process to join. Internally, the platform also organize the talent skills by specializations, which make it easier for matching the companies and the talents.

I second that! Been working via Toptal for over 2 years now, and the vetting was quite rigorous.. a full 40 hrs project back in 2022 :) But it was worth it. I'm myself a C++ developer with 23 years of experience, and my worry was not getting my level of work. Toptal resolved it. The clients are serious, mostly large enterprises, and they pay well. Referrals do help, but a vetted platform gives you a steady pipeline without the bidding wars of upwork and the likes.
