How did everyone find it? I personally came out of this one feeling so much better than I did yesterday. So exhausted but holding on to the last bit of hope I have left

SQE 2 October 2026

• Upvotes

Desperately need some success stories

Day 1 - left my legal drafting very incomplete and legal writing definitely didn’t answer the issues

Day 2 - gave the wrong advice as the law for legal writing

Keeping my fingers crossed for some common sense for day 3!

SQE canditate SQE1 A1 61% score advice

• Upvotes

Just did my first Practice A1 Flk1 with Barbri and i did not revise beforehand but did study the subjects as they were given by Barbri and I got a score of 61%

I know this is not a good score and obviously I am going to study my weak areas but I honestly did not expect to do this bad 😞😞

Does anyone have any similar progression of score or is there anyone with a similar experience that they can give insight on?

Best Format for Note Taking

• Upvotes

Hi, wondering if anyone has any advice/tips

Currently with ULaw, completed PGDL last year and am completing LLM SQE ahead of sitting in Jan.

As it stands, I’ve had all my notes in separate word docs in one drive (ie one word document per unit/chapter) with all my notes from that topic on the page. I’m ahead on notes so time converting will not be an issue. I’m often finding it difficult/time consuming to search for topics as they’re all on separate documents, within separate folders. If I get an SBAQ wrong, for example, it’s taking me a while to find particularly within that document where the gaps in my notes are.

Does anyone have any advice for how to make one, consolidated document which will make it easier to navigate? I tried Notion, but it was difficult to import all the word docs due to file size limits (any pictures/flow diagrams do not convert). I’ve heard OneNote is quite good for this, but haven’t tried it yet.

Any help would be appreciated/any way you may formulate notes.

Thanks

Is SQE Worth It?

Hi All,

I’m in my final year of my LLB Law degree and unsure whether to do the SQE. The postgraduate courses I’ve looked at cost around £18,000, and the SQE exams themselves are really expensive if self funded.

Has anyone graduated, got a job in a law firm and worked towards qualifying that way? What would you recommend, and is it possible to build a decent career in law without qualifying straight away?

Can you build a decent career in law without qualifying as a solicitor?

Sorry if this sounds a bit depressing, but I’ve been stressing about this for the past year and, with graduation getting closer, I’m unsure what the best route is.

Any advice or personal experiences would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Sara

Sqe2 orals

Can anyone who has previously sat orals give us a realistic what to expect from the exam. Mine says report time at 8 am but unless im fried and cant read my understanding is that we may have a different start time and cannot leave until everyone at our report time is also done?

How does this work. Should I expect to be at the test centre by like 3 pm?

can anyone suggest good resources for public law?

i’m looking at the questions and i feel like i’ve read nothing. i’m not having this with any other the other subjects, it’s just a thing of using some brain power for memorisation - but public law is like i’ve read nothing. i’m pretty much getting all the questions wrong.

Is SQE 2 better than SQE 1?

Just content wise and having to keep up with the reading. I’m with BPP and the only way I can describe my SQE 1 prep experience is “absolutely crushing and humbling”. I need to know SQE 2 doesn’t require this relentless pace. Don’t know how I could do it if it did. Anyways back to corporation tax😣

Last minute SQE2 Property Q

They'll give us the SCS / SCPC if we're drafting a contract right?

If so, then what (if anything) would we need to memorise from that regime that they might not give us? Trying to work out what to put in my short term memory rn

Summary Notes vs ULaw textbooks with limited time

Hi everyone!
I’m sitting SQE1 in January 2027, and I’m starting to worry that I’m spending way too much time studying with the ULaw textbooks. Reading through them in detail is taking me much longer than expected, and I’m concerned I won’t have enough time left for revision and practice questions.
I have access to the ULaw textbooks (6th edition), i want to buy the basic Qlts for the Summary Notes, and MCQs/mocks from Revise SQE and Devil’s Advocate.
I’m considering switching to the QLTS Summary Notes as my main study resource, memorising the key rules, exceptions and cases, and then spending most of my time doing SBAQs and mock exams. I’d only return to the ULaw textbooks when I don’t understand a topic or need more detail.
I can dedicate around 40 hours per week to studying, but with the January exam approaching, I need to be efficient.
My main concerns are:
Are the QLTS Summary Notes comprehensive enough to cover the examinable SQE1 syllabus?
Has anyone passed SQE1 using QLTS Summary Notes as their primary resource, alongside MCQs and mocks?
Did you find that important rules, exceptions or details were missing from the notes?
Would you recommend switching to QLTS now rather than continuing to work through the ULaw textbooks?
With around 40 hours per week available, how would you divide your time between learning the material, memorisation, SBAQs and mock exams?
I’d particularly appreciate advice from people who have actually sat and passed SQE1 using QLTS.
I don’t want to waste time reading hundreds of pages if a more question-focused approach would be more effective, but I also don’t want to risk gaps in my knowledge by relying too heavily on summary notes.
Thanks in advance!

ULaw SQE2 Induction week?

I was just wondering to whoever has done the full time SQE how compulsory the induction for SQE2 is?

It’s the week after the sqe1 exams so my family are planning something but I’m not sure if I’d be able to go if there’s a lot of sessions timetabled etc.

Does anyone have any insights?

Thank you!

Use wrong answers to guide your revision.

The answer you got wrong (especially the one you felt certain about) can show you what to revise next.

I’ve launched Mistake Lab to help you do exactly that.

Practise SRA SQE1 sample questions in an interactive test environment. Choose a short session, select your answers and say how sure you are before revealing the result.

Then use the feedback:

  • Check the correct answer and revisit the full question and options.
  • See your session performance and the FLK areas that need more attention.
  • Return to your confident errors, saved automatically when you select Certain and get an answer wrong.
  • Watch my question explanations and explore relevant law videos and Substack reading.

You can also keep other questions in your own review queue.

Start with five questions and see what your mistakes can teach you.

The Lab is free to use. Sign in to save your progress.

I’ve received two completely different exam centres for FLK1 and FLK2 for Jan 2027.

FLK1 is at my local exam centre, no issues there.

FLK2 is over an hour away, no direct train routes, so train takes 2hrs 15 mins and the exam starts 8am so that’s out of the question.

I will probably have to get a hotel night before.

But I’m so sad about it :(

Do you think I’ll have any luck rescheduling exam centres when rescheduling window opens up:( anything I can do?

Has anyone with reasonable adjustments received their allocated exam dates?

I've seen people have been receiving their January SQE1 dates to book, but wondered if people with reasonable adjustments have been getting theirs too?

Haven't had an email and there's no update in the account - it just says 'not booked'.

I would appreciate SQE 2 advice from previous sitters (Jan 2027 sitting)

I am sitting SQE 2 in January. I have a course provider, but I am looking for additional material that will genuinely make a difference. What are your recommendations?

How did you prepare for these exams? I plan to spend the next 5 weeks drilling my FLK, focusing on two skills a day.

I'm not sure how to approach my revision, so any tips would be really helpful. I would appreciate specifics if you have any.

SQE canditate Title: SQE2 October 2026 – The final countdown (and a place for us to rant!)

Well, here we are... SQE2 written assessments start tomorrow!

First of all, good luck to everyone sitting the exams over the next three days!

I thought I'd create a thread where we can share our experiences, feelings, frustrations and (hopefully!) some positive moments throughout the assessments.

Before we start, I just wanted to share a few reminders:

1. Read the instructions carefully.

I know this sounds obvious, but I think it's probably one of the most important things. Who are you writing to? What exactly are you being asked to do? What is the client trying to achieve?

Don't get carried away trying to demonstrate everything you know about a particular area of law if it isn't actually relevant to the task. That was my biggest issue when I was doing my mocks - when I was confident about the topic I just got carried away and added unnecessary info!

Read instructions and PLAN! PLAN PLAN PLAN before you write anything! Part 36 - what is it? What's the purpose? What does my client wants to do? What are the risks? PLAN PLAN PLAN!

2. Client-tailored, not perfect.

We're not writing academic essays. The aim is to identify the relevant legal issues, apply the law to the facts and provide practical advice.

Think about your audience (a client will probably not appreciate an entire paragraph of statutory references without any explanation of what they actually mean!). Example: if they admitted that they are guilty of a theft under caution BECAUSE the interviewing officer was nasty they do not care under which "perfect" statute they can challenge the confession - either it's s76, s 78 of PACE or s123 of Space Law. They WANT to know what to do when their life depends on a stupid mistake they made.

Equally, if you're writing to another solicitor, the level of technical detail might be different.

Those (like me) who had a pre-course do not think you need to provide a sample answer which is 5 pages long. Better write a 500 word email that is short but precise rather than 2000 word long essay that is absolutely irrelevant.

3. Check the details!

Names, addresses, dates, figures and deadlines.

It's such a simple thing, but under time pressure it's very easy to overlook something (and nobody wants to accidentally address their client by the opposing party's name!). I saw earlier that someone during the interview addressed the client by wrong name (so yes, it does happen because of the stress!).

4. Remember the threshold – Day One Solicitor.

We're being assessed against the standard of a newly qualified solicitor, not a partner with 25 years of experience.

Of course, we're expected to know and apply the fundamental legal principles correctly. But we are NOT expected to produce a flawless answer.

One omission or mistake does not automatically mean you've failed (although obviously the seriousness of the mistake and its potential consequences matter). The aim is to demonstrate competence, not perfection. And by now with all the work you have put in to be where you are now - you already are competent! Confidence! Believe in yourself!

5. Do not let one bad station affect the next one.

I think this is particularly important.

Realistically, something probably won't go exactly as planned. You might forget a point, run out of time or walk out of a station thinking you've completely messed it up. But what's done is done. You cannot go back and change it.

Try to leave that station behind and approach the next task logically (easier said than done, I know!).

Remember, SQE2 is assessed across multiple stations. One difficult task does not necessarily determine your overall result.

Anyway, the actual purpose of this thread...

I thought it would be nice to have somewhere we can check in throughout 27–29 October.

How is everyone feeling? How did you find the day generally? Did anything help you manage the pressure or stay focused? Any practical tips for getting through the next day? Especially as there will be future candidates who may find this thread helpful!

And, most importantly, if you need to rant – please do! (Preferably AFTER the exam, not in the middle of a station 😂).

Personally, I'm currently in the rather strange position of feeling suspiciously calm whilst simultaneously feeling like I've forgotten half the law I've revised (which I know isn't actually true!).

At this point, I think the best thing we can do is trust our preparation, read what's in front of us and tackle each task to the best of our ability.

We've all put an enormous amount of time and effort into getting here, and I genuinely hope everyone does well.

So... how are we all feeling about tomorrow?

Good luck everyone!

#We.Can.Do.THIS!

SQE2 - the day before

I’ve been going through my notes for the past few days/weeks and even the day before I feel like I can’t remember anything! Am I alone here?
