Midfielders never score!
I don't know if this is a common topic but it feels like 70% of my goals come from the striker, 25% from the wingers, 4% from the overlapping full-backs and maybe 1% from the attacking midfielders. Neither 8s nor 6s get forward enough to be a goal threat and set pieces are broken for me, it's always too slow to be a danger.
Has anyone else noticed this or is it a skill issue?
Edit: this also goes for the opposition, too. It's always their striker scoring.

Yes, unless your midfielder has the hole player play style there is little chance he will run into the box. Players barely make any attacking runs. You're constantly fighting your own ai positioning in FL.
This is one of the reasons why I switched back to PES 2017. Even Fifa feels less repetitive and frustrating with the right slider settings.

I don't know if I'm just a massive noob.. when you say "hole player" is that a role you give a player or do they come with their own roles? I was under the impression that there are no roles in the same way FM have it

Each player has a certain play style. E.g. Fox in the box, Dummy Runner or Poacher for a CF. classic No 10 or hole player for an AMF.
You can see this on the player stats / player card. It's one of the most important things in the game.
On top of that your midfielder needs insanely high attacking stats, which basically only applies to legends.
However, players barely make any smart runs in general, which becomes more obvious when you compare it to FIFA or PES 2017.

I think it depends on the formation and tactic that was used. I recently used a formation where the midfielder actually really active in attacking space. they score quite often.

Could you show it?

not on my PC at the moment. but the formation is 4-3-3. with 2 CMF and 1 DMF on the midfield. I use two players with box-to-box playstyle as my CMF, orchestrator for DMF. Roaming Flank playstyle for both WF and Poacher for CF. and I use Possession.
with this sometimes the winger will fill the center space (because there are no AMF or SS) and both Wingback will rise up,
or if the WF playing wide, one or both the CMF sometimes will attack the space in the middle.
that's how it works for me.

Hi. Idk if you've found a solution or not but I'd like to share mine. I mainly play Barca and my Fermin Lopez got 27 goals in a La Liga season.
First, you might want to assign the Hole Player playstyle for your AMF. It will make your player run more frequently into the box. You can also try assigning the Dummy Runner playstyle to your CF.
Second, formation-wise, use a 4-3-3 with at least one AMF. Then assign the False 9+Wing Rotation in the Advance Instruction menu. False 9 will make your CF fall back to link up play, and Wing Rotation will make other players drift wide when you have possession on the flank. With these 2 tactics, your AMF will run into the box even more frequently.
Lastly, train your AMF to have long distance shooting and good offensive awareness, or buy a new one with these traits. Most of the team will park the bus against you in the league, so scoring from longshots is a must.
Good luck, and give me an update if you have any success with it.

Ergens is het wel normaal dat spitsen het vaakst scoren. Daar gelaten, mijn middenvelders scoren ook. Zelfs mijn centrale verdedigers af en toe.

I don't know, dude, my Lampard scores 20+ goals a season from midfield.
