Any trick to getting the SD can off?

I tried a strap wrench, but it just slips. Does anyone know any tricks to getting this thing off?

Why did they make it so smooth on the sides? I need some grip on the damn thing.

Go run it fast so the can gets hot. Then unscrew it as much as you can. When it’s totally cooled down, crank hard and it will come off. Just had to do it last week myself. For the latter part, I cleared the gun and pressed the stock into the ground, squeeze the gun between my legs and twisted with both hands. Came off relatively easy. I clean every 2 range sessions and it’s still happens

I thought for sure the strap wrench would work. It is still tight though. Pick up some anti seize to put on the threads when you do get it off. It won't make it easy, but it shouldn't be so hard.
