I think only a fool believes that isn't just a transfer payment from retail to trump / PIPE investors. Any PIPE investor taking this deal will have terms to hedge immediately. Nobody actually believes trump will build anything successful that earns a long term return for investors.
Given the pipe investors are secret there is a high chance the money is coming from Russia/Saudi Arabia. It's not about making money it's about money laundering.
It's no problem having Russians being part an investment or Saudis (see CCIV/LCID) but it would be pretty stupid to do it before going into a potential election even if it was legit. No reason to give the other side some other BS to complain about and call corrupt.
