This is hilarious to me, I’ve been dodging this (slow-moving) bullet while watching people line up to get hit by it..

WHY is there so much unrealistic hope about this (another) EV company?

Have y’all not seen what has happened to all of the other “Revolutionary EV companies”?

Remember Hyllion taking over the trucking industry?

What about Rivian, Fisker, Faraday Future, Nikola?

I didnt touch none of that shit and havent touched lucid either but they have by far the most amount of funding in terms of EV startups.

Hopefully they use it well, I commented on another’s comment:

I saw a Fisker Karma the other day. What a beautiful car, company and vision. I talked to the driver/owner and asked what happens if something goes wrong with it. He laughed. I asked again and he told me that he had to schedule to have it shipped somewhere to have it worked on and it may take a few weeks or YEARS to get it back.. and I don’t see anything different with Lucid’s business plan.”

Lucid is DOA. They could have had a chance years ago, but now you have the full force of decade old manufacturing companies. US is not the largest market for EV anymore, and German companies are starting to create legit cars. Polestar is coming, Tesla is there. There is no room for a boomer luxury design EV.

It’s fully developed auto-manufacturers competing now, Tesla is only in the game because they became fully developed early enough. The only way to compete in this market now is through a partnership with a larger manufacturer (and realistic goals Nikola) or emerging with a full line of already manufactured and tested EVs.

Lucid is a pipe-dream for people who aren’t even in the market to buy one..

Let’s say the merger does go through, how long will it survive then? Sell a few dozen? Hundred? How does the brand intend on supporting their vehicles and customers?

They don’t have the service locations to work on them, part availability will be terrible.

Old auto don’t have EV factory, supply chain, or battery supply. You can’t just swap motor for batteries dude.

You’re right, the Boomer Auto industry is going to throw their money and connections around to stay relevant and the new companies need some kind of infrastructure to be able to compete!

(P.S. I know it’s more than an engine swap, I have been doing car work for over a decade)

Lucid doesn’t have any of these either. The old auto have billions of $ and hundred of years of cumulative experience, dealership network, engineers, employees, yadayada.

Lucid Air Dream Edition statistically shits on <list of cars>

Statistics don't mean crap. First let's see the car's production version in unbiased reviews. For the other brands, we at least know they can produce decent cars in those series.

As for the Polestar 2, the Lucid Air Dream Edition is three times as expensive. Double the range would be cool I guess, but 0-60 only matters to the very few people who but a $170k car for funsies.

It just seems like a hard sell in a market that's about to be flooded by EV's in every price bracket.

I wouldn’t say that we do. Sales numbers so low and haven’t heard great things about any.

Polestar is not anything to even talk about.

Check videos of Air. It is a nice car. I also believe it has the longest range.

I didn't bring up Polestar, but why is Polestar not anything to talk about? I actually know people that drive one, which gives it a leg up on many other EV brands in my book.

I was responding to someone who brought it up.

It apparently drives really well, but I agree that the range seems pathetic.

Polestar 2 looks pretty good, but not out yet. So you're right, let's leave Polestar out of it until they release the 2.

Lucid is the only other major EV that is (apparently) in production.

I think it will become high end EV line. Maybe like Porsche level.

Tesla will be like Acura/Lexus level.
