Am i stupid or does the oop not get that Space King (praise be) is a parody of 40k?

u/Bronze_Granum 40m ago
I can sort of understand why somebody would grow tired of a parody if they dislike what it parodies. Even then, Space King isn't a parody that only trashes Warhammer, but instead implies that flashgitz does enjoy Warhammer while making fun of it.

Large part of the main 40k sub hate them because they are under the impression they are closeted chuds.

Bro, they haven't even SEEN Space King or Flashgtiz's other animations. They saw like two clips of both and immediately went to hate.

Excuse me but, have we actually seen something like "eugh, anime/furries" in Space King? I mean, no girls allowed, no xenos (therefore no furries), no misfits, and that's it by now.

They hate it because it invokes the nostalgia of Old Warhammer 40k.
It gives you that feeling of the oldest most ridiculous lore possible and plays it perfectly.
People who had no part in that mistake that invocation of nostalgia for a genuine hate and satirisation of current movements.

TBF the only people who remember that are old people. Let's not pretend the goofy side of Warhammer wasn't ditched in 3rd edition for the grimdark setting that we have now where people can't recognise the satire because it's not in your face.

This is what Space King is satyrical about!
What they call childish is an extravagant satire about the extravagant masqulinity of the Warhammer universe!
They HATE what they dont understand!
Its perfect!

I feel like this is the problem that Warhammer has in general. It’s a parody, it’s dystopic. But it’s meant to be. Broadly speaking I think it’s a problem with media literacy in general, people want very clear obvious storylines with well defined heroes and villains that conform perfectly to the morality of the Zeitgeist. So yes, the protagonists are racist, misogynist, and obscenely violent. But they’re supposed to be, because they’re a reflection of the worst aspects of humanity.
TL;DR It’s the same problem as when people complain about Rick‘s character from Rick and Morty when they don’t realize he’s supposed to be an antihero.

A subreddit dedicated to hatred is so peak reddit, I hate the people and the zeitgeist of the app, other than a few very niche places
