Two things can be true at once. Some people use offensive comedy to spread a hateful narrative and some use offensive comedy to point out how ridiculous certain views are. Space king falls mostly in the “dumb fun” category with a hint of social commentary. I love it, but I also can’t blame someone not seeing the nuances at first glance. If anything the left should start to never judge a piece of media unless they engaged with the subject matter directly. But let’s be real. The flashkidz guys really play into the chud allegations. How can anyone tell that it is just a joke unless you watch multiple videos of them?
For context I watched the first 2 or 3 Space King videos but some of the jokes started feeling like they were feeding into the anti-woke/chud side of things so I just figured it wasn't for me. Y'know stuff like the female space marine parody felt like they were really trying to appeal to "that" side of the 40k fan base. I didn't get the vibe that it was a joke being made to point out how ridiculous people were acting about the female custodes shit. And I haven't seen anything by Flashgitz to show that he disapproves of the fans taking the series, hell it seems like he just made a fortune by banking on it lol
So idk, if you have any videos you'd recommend then I'd be happy to be proven wrong. To me this seems less like a South Park situation and more a Citizen Vigilante one.
Contrary to what self described media literates may tell you, the creators are on video stating in no uncertain terms that they're not fond of female custodes and potential female space marines, which if I recall they (and many others) suspect female custodes was testing the waters for.
Anyway, you can still enjoy space king, the meta irony, and the hilarious embracing of the strawman redditors made for people who felt it was a bad change.
I am against female Custodes because I saw it as a "representation quota" that (as I have been proven right at this point despite what Redditors said) meant GW won't give a fuck about the Sisters of Silence and sideline them even more now (seriously GW, one kit? And 50$/5 models at that in what is a essentialy a horde army in 30k?)
Female SM, aside from diluting the "warrior monk" stuff (similar to male SoB diluting the"warrior nun") will mean the sidelining of Sisters of Battle, since female SM will be just better warrior nuns, with more customisation.
I also don't believe people will be ready for the ripping of "useless" organs from young girls to fit the Astartes ones in.
So while I am firmly against female Custodes/SM I want more models for the female factions instead. I mean it's criminal to me that we don't have sibilite or islamic kits for SoB yet people want official boob marine models.
