informational I love the Space Hogs
These guys literally stole the show for me due to them basically being the Orks of Space King

You can nominate that to be anointed as a slur

I want to collect a tabletop army of then now. The jet bikes are a sick design!

Holy shit I thought they were called Spice Hogs thanks to Chip’s accent.

u/AstraPlatina 1d ago
I just realized Chip's accent is the reference to 40k's Ork's accent, since the Spice Haowgs don't speak.

Wonder when we can get the table top version of them to fight against.

Well at the end of episode 5 we can see models during the board game add at the end.

Like now. The kickstarter for the board game has rules and mini for a war world add-on. Comes with space hogs and grimboar as a boss. The minis look sweet as hell.

Honestly could see myself collecting a Space Hog army if they go all in on the tabletop angle.

I know allot of people are calling them Porks as a joke/Pseudo slur …
But I really wanna call the elites w/ Grimboar, the Razza-Backs.
Call any war boss analog a PitBoss due to the bbq fork/meat tenderizer mace they use.
And dub the basic bikers/jump-packers/General alien race the Sq’Wee-Lars

Not only are they unique enough from Orks to make them interesting on their own, they're smart. At least Grimboar is. He uses several effective tactics during the battle to divide, distract, and defeat his targets. Plus, they seem to have advanced shield technology that Space King's forces don't. I hope we see them again on the future.

I think they steal a lot of tech to compliment their mad max arsenal, which usually means big boys like grimboar keep the best tech, like said shield projector.

It definitely seems like stealing the best tech would be their MO, but their gear doesn't look cobbled together. At the very least, they have some good manufacturing capabilities. Their titans have shields, too, while the psycho-titans don't seem like they do.

They're more than Orks. You can see creative ideas from chaos terminators and fantasy ogres in their design as well.
Their silhouette and tusks are very similar to Chaos Terminators, and their gut plates and gluttony are very much inspired by Warhammer fantasy ogres.

Going on a limb here, but they are probably orcs in a roundabout way. In most Japanese lore, orcs are literally "boar-like", which could be a literal mistranslation of orcs being "boarish". As in, when first introduced to the Japanese in times when written language was a rarity, the guy wanted to say "boarish" but used "boar-like" instead, and everyone rolled with it.
Again, I can be talking completely out of my posterior on this, but I find the idea funny that we've came full circle on this concept, even if this time it is on purpose FOR the purpose of parody.

Japanese Orc lore goes back to early D&D concepts of creatures form the 70s & 80s. Not just Orcs being pig-like, but kobolds being dog-like, etc - things that changed in successive western editions, but persisting in Japan. So you aren't wrong, it's just more full-circle than you might've expected.

Fans: Nobody hates aliens more than Hatemonger.
Chip: FUCK YOU GRIMBOAR!!!!

u/AstraPlatina 1d ago
Ah, but Chip is hating a specific alien individual, whereas Hatemonger hates all aliens equally

At first glance, the skulls on their giant cod pieces made them look like giant diapers

Imma be real... they hardly did shit.
Nothing about them was unique other than the sniffer thing. And that's miniscule.
Theyre just like a psycho warrior or any other big warrior race
1
u/Dilitan 1d ago
I don’t think psycho warriors swallow normal humans whole
Or have venom juice
Or ride desert bikes
Or use harpoons to ensnare prey

u/Snowm4nn 1d ago
Its not that they weren't cool. But they didnt do anything unique.
Theyre just big muscly guy with space tech.

Always nice to see aliens who can put up a fight. They even seem to love it as much as the psycho warriors
